Nearly two years ago, U.S. News & World Report came out with a story titled "Educators Implicated in Atlanta Cheating Scandal." It reported that "for 10 years, hundreds of Atlanta public school teachers and principals changed answers on state tests in one of the largest cheating scandals in U.S. history." More than three-quarters of the 56 Atlanta schools investigated had cheated on the National Assessment of Educational Progress test, sometimes called the national report card. Cheating orders came from school administrators and included brazen acts such as teachers reading answers aloud during the test and erasing incorrect answers. One teacher told a colleague, "I had to give your kids, or your students, the answers because they're dumb as hell." To Read More....
My Take - Ok.....so let me see if I understand this properly. The teachers altruistically cheated…. for the students …… in order for them to pass the tests because they are too dumb to pass them on their own. And who's fault is it they are that dumb?
Here is the way I see it. The teachers fudged the tests in order to make it appear they are doing their job. A job they are being paid to do. A job they are being paid extremely well for I might add. A job that is being done by those who score at the bottom 10% of the college SAT’s. And so is it the students who are dumb? No….it isn’t the students who are dumb. Its society that is dumb, because we are the suckers that keep paying the taxes that allow this kind of fraud to continue. Two things. All those involved, including any supervisors who knew this was going on and did nothing, absolutely need to be fired and then prosecuted for fraudulently use of public money.
