Some Democrat History:
The Democrat Party was formed in 1792. At first, it called itself Jeffersonian Republicans but later adopted Democrat Party as its moniker. The Democrat Party once controlled the entire South, embracing slavery as a good thing. In 1829, South Carolina Democrat Governor Stephen D. Miller said to his state’s legislators:
“Slavery is not a national evil; on the contrary, it is a national benefit. The agricultural wealth of the country is found in those states owning slaves, and a great portion of the revenue of the government is derived from the products of slave labor—Slavery exists in some form everywhere, and it is not of much consequence in a philosophical point of view, whether it be voluntary or involuntary. In a political point of view, involuntary slavery had the advantage, since all who enjoy political liberty are then, in fact, free.”
In 1837, South Carolina Democrat Senator John C. Calhoun, who would become our nation’s seventh vice president, said on the Senate floor:
“Never before has the black race of Central Africa, from the dawn of history to the present day, attained a condition so civilized and so improved, not only physically, but morally and intellectually... It came to us in a low, degraded, and savage condition, and in the course of a few generations it has grown up under the fostering care of our institutions.”
Following the Civil War, Democrat Party hatred of blacks was kept in check during Reconstruction (1865 – 1877). The Ku Klux Klan (KKK), which started in 1865 in the Democrat South, fought legally and illegally to keep former slaves from being part of the America experience.
Democrat Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia was the “Exalted Cyclops” (top leader) in his local Klan chapter. Later becoming close friends with then-Senator Joe Biden. In December 1944, Byrd wrote to fellow segregationist Democrat Mississippi Senator Theodore Bilbo:
“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
Bryd, who served in the Senate for 51 years, said that being part of the KKK was a mistake.
Richard Wormser writes about Democrats in “The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow” —
“Even though Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a Democrat, and a relatively liberal president during the 1930s and '40s, he rarely challenged the powerfully entrenched Southern bloc. When the House passed a federal anti-lynching bill several times in the 1930s, Southern senators filibustered it to death.”
Some Republican History:
Dr. Carol Swain, professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University, wrote “The Inconvenient Truth of the Democratic Party” for Prager University. From her essay:
Since its founding in 1829, the Democratic Party has fought against every major civil rights initiative, and has a long history of discrimination.
The Democratic Party defended slavery, started the Civil War, opposed Reconstruction, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation, perpetrated lynchings, and fought against the civil rights acts of the 1950s and 1960s.
In contrast, the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an anti-slavery party. Its mission was to stop the spread of slavery into the new western territories with the aim of abolishing it entirely. This effort, however, was dealt a major blow by the Supreme Court. In the 1857 case Dred Scott v. Sandford, the court ruled that slaves aren’t citizens; they’re property. The seven justices who voted in favor of slavery? All Democrats. The two justices who dissented? Both Republicans. Click here to read the full article.
Democrats Forget One Word, Illegal:
Trump Derangement Syndrome has pushed nearly the entire Democrat party toward communism. While Republicans welcome legal immigrants, Democrats protect ILLEGAL aliens. Look at what New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer said at about ILLEGAL immigration in 2009:
"… illegal migration is wrong, plain and simple. Persons who enter the U.S. without permission are illegal aliens and should not be treated the same as those who entered legally."
