Washington DC: The March of Folly

The title is from Barbara W. Tuchman's book The March of Folly, which I highly recommend reading for those who see the insanity going on in Washington and ask: Why are they doing that?

Washington, D.C. is a bastion of left-leaning swamp dwellers who believe in an America that most of us would never recognize unless we followed the teachings of Karl Marx. These liberals only talk to each other, socialize with each other, work with each other, and live near each other. When it comes to making political donations consider where federal government workers put their money during the 2024 presidential campaign. These were the folks who sat on many J6 juries:

1. In the government’s 15 Cabinet-level departments:- $9+ million to Kamala Harris - $1.6 million to Donald Trump · 
2. Internal Revenue employees: - $644,000 to Democrats - $135,000 to Republicans 
3. Justice Department lawyers and staff: - $644,000 to Kamala Harris - $58,000 to Donald Trump · 
4. Homeland Security employees: - $593,000 to Kamala Harris - $153,000 to Donald Trump · 
5. FEMA staff: - $172,000 to Democrats - $36,000 to Republicans'

And we're shocked when it's being reported that FBI Agents Were Destroying JFK Docs:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a new sheriff in town with Kash Patel and Dan Bongino serving as its director and deputy director respectively under the second Trump presidency, but that doesn’t mean the riffraff that’s infected this agency are gone........staffers that had turned the FBI into the Democratic Party’s police force. The latest allegation must be investigated.....Independent reporter Michael Shellenberger said that sources told him that agents were destroying servers that contained sensitive documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein and the assassination of John F. Kennedy.....

Some events from around the nation:

Tennessee: Republican Governor Bill Lee signed the bill that allows parents to apply for Education Freedom Scholarships—school choice. The state’s Department of Education will be ready for the 2025-2026 school year. Tennessee is the 12th state to offer universal school choice; however, the scholarships are only for students who are “lawfully present in the United States.”

New York: Most people think liberal Manhattan IS New York City. However, there are FIVE boroughs that make up the Big Apple: Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Of the five, Staten Island has always been the conservative borough. And it’s always been ignored by Democrats in Albany. Once again, there is chatter about Staten Island (which is on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River) seceding from the city and state. But would New Jersey be an improvement? (We will know after this year’s gubernatorial election.)

Doge: Happened twice before — You’re probably running out of popcorn watching juvenile Democrat antics as they try to save the money laundering USAID and other wasteful federal programs. Did you know that there have been a number of DOGE like programs in United States history? There are those claiming DOGE is undemocratic, it's tyrannical, it destroys lives, it's unconstitutional, these cuts will destroy the economy, and yet, two previous DOGE programs that were run by DEMOCRATS didn't seem to bother them. 

President Bill Clinton: 1993 with Vice President Al Gore spearheading “National Partnership for Reinventing Government.”

Senator Harry Truman: 1941 “Truman Committee.” Over its seven years, the Truman Committee saved the United States between $10 -15 billion in 1941 dollars. Adjusted for inflation, the Truman Committee saved the USA almost $250 BILLION in today’s dollars. (Harry Truman was President Franklin Roosevelt’s vice president in the 1944 election and became our 33rd president on April 12, 1945, following FDR’s death.)

AP Hypocrisy: AP Has made name changes in the past.  

The Associated Press’ Stylebook is the Bible for written communications. Currently, the AP refuses to change the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. As a hypocritical leftist organization, AP regularly makes changes based on shifting societal norms or government requests but won’t do it for President’s Trump’s executive order.

Here are two recent examples of when the AP made changes:

• On August 14, 2019, AP announced: AP has changed its style for the capital of Ukraine to Kyiv, in line with the Ukrainian government’s preferred transliteration to English and increasing usage. Include a reference in stories to the former spelling of Kiev. The food dish remains chicken Kiev.
• On June 19, 2020, AP announced:AP’s style is now to capitalize Black in a racial, ethnic or cultural sense, conveying an essential and shared sense of history, identity and community among people who identify as Black, including those in the African diaspora and within Africa.
• The AP Stylebook capitalizes Black in a racial, ethnic or cultural sense, but refuses to capitalize White.
