Trump wiretap charge flummoxes law enforcement officials as FBI head reportedly asks DOJ to reject claim, Fox News March 6, 2017

President Donald Trump's allegation on Twitter that former President Barack Obama ordered wiretaps of his phones during the election caught senior federal law enforcement officials completely off-guard, sources close to the matter have told Fox News. Those sources said that the officials in question had no idea what Trump was talking about when the president made the allegation on social media Saturday morning. FBI Director James Comey on Sunday asked the Justice Department to publicly knock down President Donald Trump's allegations that former President Barack Obama directed intelligence agencies to wiretap his phones during the presidential election, The New York Times reports.  Comey has said in private that the charges are entirely false and has been working to get the DOJ to reject the claim because "it falsely insinuates that the FBI broke the law," officials told the Times.......Continue Reading.....
