In an American society increasingly polarized over politics, one uniting belief is that there is something very wrong with our government. While this is true, there is an unfortunate tendency — on both sides — to try to identify simple, easy to recite reforms to fix our woes.
On the left, for example, the cries are usually for “getting money out of politics,” with various organizations pushing to “repeal” the Citizens United ruling. My Take - During the article the author finally comes to a correct conclusion - to make things better we need to shrink government. Yet he somehow thinks having term limits will prevent that. The reality is people going back to Congress for decades is what has brought us to this situation.
Here's a fact that's incontestable.
If all members of Congress are forced to leave and replaced by new a hundred new Representatives and Senators every election cycle that means there are 100 new opportunites to convince them to do something right.
Does anyone really believe John McCain will ever be anything except a corrupt Senator who was caught up in the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal?
Does anyone really believe he will do what's right? Maybe....just maybe.....and now this is a shot in the dark.....a replacement could do a much better job at representing the people of Arizona and the nation than McCain. Actually....an empty seat could do a better job.
An empty seat can't vote!
