Election 2016: Everyone Has An Opinion

Editor's Note: There is much stated in these articles with which I agree and much with which I disagree. For those who've been reading P and D for some time my views are known......but this is what' s happening, and this is what should be reported, and I will forgo "My Take" on the particulars of the articles today, but I will address the strangeness - or value - of some of these commentators views at a later time. RK

Why Scott Walker must be our next president - The Grand Old Party, after a time in the wilderness, is now back in business. It commands both Houses of Congress and now, for the first time in 12 years, has a realistic chance of choosing a presidential candidate who can actually beat whichever raddled, shop-worn “Democrat” emerges from the blue primaries. It may yet win the trifecta and command the third House of the legislature – the White House. To an admirer and beneficiary of the hereditary system of family based government like me, there is something endearing about the notion that the United States, having hooted and hollered at the time of independence about getting rid of orders of hereditary nobility, may have a choice between two social-register families on the political A-list that already regard the White House as their fiefdom – the Clintons and the Bushes......

Who lost the GOP presidential debate? - The candidates who impressed and energized voters were Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee – and, what they had in common, was their unbridled attacks on the irrational, illogical plague of mental illness that threatens to destroy America’s free society. We all know Trump stole the big show. His personality is bigger than life. He’s brutally blunt and consistently drives home the point that the language of political correctness is designed to limit debate, limit solutions to problems that are ravaging the country and limit rational thinking about ways to save America from its downward cultural, spiritual, economic and political spiral. But Trump was not alone. Others who broke through to connect with voters were those who weren’t afraid to venture off the politically correct reservation. So who lostthe debate?.....

Trump No. 1 in NBC poll after GOP debate, increases lead – Ted Cruz rockets to 2nd, Bush and Christie plunge - A brand-new scientific poll taken in the wake of Thursday’s Republican debates and Donald Trump’s war of words with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly shows the billionaire developer increasing his lead at the top position, with GOP establishment candidates such as Jeb Bush and Chris Christie in a downward spiral. The NBC News Online Survey was conducted online by SurveyMonkey from August 7-8, 2015 among a national sample of 3,551 adults aged 18 and over. The overnight poll was conducted for 24 hours from Friday evening into Saturday. Trump ranked at No. 1, scoring 23 percent support, a gain of 1 percentage point from NBC’s previous poll. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas saw the biggest increase of 7 percent, finishing in second place with 13 percent of the overall vote. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson came in third, scoring 11 percent, a personal increase of 3 points.......

Black women go ballistic backing Donald - Unleash on Megyn Kelly: 'Stop believing everything those Democrats tell you' - “Okay, so it’s a day after the debates and you all know I am mad as hell,” Hardaway began. “Somebody already tried to come for Donald, so I’ve got to come for them.” Hardaway did not appreciate Kelly’s opening question to Trump, asking him to respond to comments he made on Twitter towards Rosie O’Donnell. “Here’s the damn deal, Megyn Kelly, or Kelly Megyn, whatever your name is: Rosie O’Donnell started that whole foolishness! She was on The View and she was the one who spoke out against Donald and Donald had to come back on her!”………. “He’s gonna be the next president of the United States when you like it or not, Megyn Kelly or Kelly Megyn or whatever your name is, or not.”….

Kasich: Trump's behavior 'doesn't seem to bother me'' - It's up to me to tell people about me'- Ohio Governor and Republican primary hopeful John Kasich said Sunday that Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly, “just doesn’t seem to bother” him and that Trump’s rhetoric does not affect his campaign’s overall strategy. “It’s up to me to tell people about me and not be worrying about somebody else,” Kasich said during an interview with Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press.” The Ohio governor also said he doesn’t think Trump’s candidacy is reflective of the entire Republican brand. “At the end of the day, you have a nominee. And the nominee is the person that reflects the views of the Republican party. And all the things that go on in these primaries are just simply things that are, you know, they go on today, but they’re forgotten tomorrow….. To Read More….

Trump rips 'deviant' blood inference on Kelly - 'You almost have to be sick to put that together' - Donald Trump said that he values women and that only a“deviant” would believe that he was referring to menstruation when he said that Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever” when she questioned him during Thursday’s Republican presidential primary debate.Trump, speaking Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” sought to repair the damage wrought by his comment. The billionaire was disinvited this week from the RedState Gathering, an influential conservative event, amid a backlash that has raised questions about the future of his candidacy. “When you’re negative on women’s health, you can forget about it,” he said. “I’m the exact opposite. I cherish women. I want to help women. I’m going to be able to do things for women that no other candidate would be able to do, and it’s very important to me.” .....

Protesters shut down Bernie Sanders rally - Protesters who claimed affiliation with the Black Lives Matter movement stormed the stage during a rally for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Seattle on Saturday, taking over the microphone and forcing Sanders to leave without ever speaking. Moments after Sanders took the stage at Westlake Park, two women and one man climbed the stage and confronted the Democratic presidential candidate, demanding a chance to speak. After several moments of confusion and confrontation, an event organizer took the microphone and said the protesters would be allowed to speak before Sanders. Some in the crowd booed. One protester, who identified herself as Marissa Johnson, began by saying, “I was going to tell Bernie how racist this city is — with all of its progressives — but you’ve already done that for me. Thank you.” Johnson spoke, among other things, about police violence in Seattle, mentioning a federal investigation into the city's law enforcement that resulted in the appointment of a monitor to make sure Seattle police were complying with the terms set forth by the Justice Department......

Will Bernie Sander's new black face keep #Blacklivesmatters thugs away? - Bernie Sanders finally meets a black person. Bernie Sanders, darling of the extremist left, was eaten by some of his own yesterday when radical black activists representing the #blacklivesmatter group charged the stage in a Seattle park where he had just begun to speak and began screaming to be heard. The almost all white audience of Sanders supporters were mostly hostile to the interruption, some calling for police to arrest the radicals, while others called for them to leave the stage and let Sanders speak. Police said later that the organizers of the event asked them not to make any arrersts. Sanders himself seemed befuddled. He was one of the good guys, right? He's on their side, right? It didn't matter to the screaming protesters who accused the crowd in one of the most progressive cities in America of being racist.

Will They Let Megyn Kelly Handle Trump? – I’ve talked to several of the campaigns about debate strategy tonight and, particularly, how to handle Donald Trump. The overwhelming sentiment is that they are not. They are going to let Megyn Kelly do it — Bret Baier too, but Megyn is the one whose name got mentioned the most. One of the campaign strategists.......

The Republican Race So Far (With Straw Poll) - To this point, I am feeling wise. I predicted the emergence of a Trump, the ascendancy of Cruz and Fiorina, the illusory nature of the Jeb Bush candidacy, and the general dynamism of the Republican field. In a June 10 article, a week before Trump announced his bid, I wrote, “The Republican nominee for president will be that candidate who best learns that there is no future in apologizing.” In researching my new book, Scarlet Letters: The Ever Increasing Intolerance of the Cult of Liberalism,I sensed the hunger on the right for someone to stand up and confront the establishment head on. In the last month or two no one has done so as flamboyantly as Donald Trump. Republicans who had no intention of voting for him, me included, cheered him on. More quietly, however, Carly Fiorina has done much the same. So has Sen. Ted Cruz. Cruz stole a scene right out of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington when he called out Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor. It was dazzling……

Carly: a Flawed Candidate - Carly a conservative? The record shows different. I've never been comfortable with Carly Fiorina because she ran as a no-issues moderate for the 2010 senate race in California, and she hasn't articulated any conservative principles before 2015. But she has spoken up in other ways, just not very conservative-like: Immediately after 9/11, Carly gave a speech, where, in light of the 3000 Americans who had just been slaughtered, her first concern was for... Muslims……Then in 2013, when Ted Cruz was counseling defunding ObamaCare in the next budget, and Boehner wanted capitulation, Carly sided with... John Boehner……

Fox Wins, Everyone Else Loses - We're told there were no winners or losers from Thursday's main stage debate. We're told the Fox talking heads asked the tough questions that need to be asked to vet the candidates. We're told to ignore what was in front of our eyes: the Fox media elite carrying water for the Republican establishment and their own political predilections. Fox had their own agenda, and it has nothing to do with Republican voters' concerns or what our candidates have to offer America. There were winners and losers. The winner was the media conglomerate that owns Fox News and Megyn Kelly's career. Fox is taking credit for breaking all records in number of viewers, as if it were Fox's accomplishment. Nonsense…….

FNC debate moderators: 'Oh, the cleverness of me' - Were there presidential candidates featured Thursday night, or just moderators basking in the spotlight? Millions of conservatives were looking forward to the GOP debate like kids waiting for a new Avengers film. Sick to death of leftist moderators going after Republican candidates with malicious intent, this debate was going to be different. With the moderators being from Fox, this debate would be classy and substantive......Our fantasy was not to be. Right out of the box, Kelly asked Trump a lowbrow question that belied someone's many hours of opposition research…….This debate was going to be like a tacky reality show, unworthy of the candidates, with the possible exception of Trump. Fox was going to take out Trump with glee while 24 million people watched. They were so proud, and they stooped to his level to do it. Rather than let him betray his own ignorance on legitimate topics, like how he would actually secure the border or how he would fix health care or his knowledge of the Constitution, they went for the low-info voter, trigger-warning crowd with a question about name-calling. The whole fiasco was pathetic……
