New York Times And The Price Of Hypocrisy

By Crissy Brown

Prompted by the Newspaper Guild, New York Times union employees carried out a brief walkout on Tuesday.  At 3:35 pm, as many as 400 employees stood outside the Midtown building to demonstrate their message of discontent. The walkout followed a meeting where 200 staff members attempted to hash out a collective bargaining contract to no avail.  Many are puzzled that the union employees have gone the last 18 months without being able to reach a collective bargaining agreement, as the Times has historically and loudly favored unions. So long as they don’t have to deal with them, it seems…….

What union members don’t seem to fully appreciate is that the newspaper industry has been struggling since the dawn of the digital era to come up with new and innovative ways to turn a profit. When confronted about salary raises, Bernard Plum, the lawyer representing the Times management said, “This is a declining industry and a declining business.” With even major newspapers wondering how to avoid bankruptcy in the coming years, the Times’ proposed pension cuts should not come as a shock. Yet union members say they “will accept nothing less” than their demands.
The editors of the Times claim to love organized labor… except when it affects their business.  To Read the Whole Article……
My TakeDid someone shake their head and chuckle?  Yup….it was me!  After all of this time, and all of the Times views against governors Christie, Walker and Kasich for attempting to rein in the public employee’s unions they just can’t seem to just give the unions what they want.

That is what they wanted the governors to do….right?

Is it possible that their workers aren't as priceless as public service workers?  Or, is it because if they do they will go bankrupt?   It isn’t like unions haven’t put whole other industries out of business in the U.S in the past…..unions and federal regulations.  It is amazing how all of a sudden they have such a firm grasp on how unions impact the bottom line!
.....................When its their bottom line!   .....................
Of course, to the leftists running the newspapers none of that matters when it comes to local and state governments.  Does anyone besides me think these people are insane?

You might find this video interesting.  Would someone explain to me how the union can force someone to take a public political position and fine them if they do not?  I thought the members were the union?  Right? Apparently not!

Of course the union isn't opposed to making payments for work well done as shown in this video.
