Town Hall

Kurt Schlichter: Sympathy for the Donaldites
This election is the Republican Altamont, where conservatives got knifed by the Hells Angels  It’s our own fault too – the GOP teased its base, looked down upon it, lied to it, and when it turned out it wasn’t playing games and pulled a blade the establishment wasn’t ready.   I spent the last few days at CPAC, surrounded by conservatives, and there was a clear preference for focusing on the symptom – Donald Trump and his myriad failings – rather than the disease. Our problem is not this digitally-challenged, bizarrely phallocentric clown; it’s our failure to represent the people left behind as we got ahead.....

Katie Kieffer: Cisco Kid-Pancho 2016 (Cruz-Rubio)                         Choose adventure! Choose romance! Choose the Robin Hood of Washington: “Cisco Kid” Ted Cruz and his ideal sidekick “Pancho” Marco Rubio! My parents grew up watching two heroic Hispanic partners – The Cisco Kid and Pancho – fight crime in the hit Western, The Cisco Kid. My generation should encourage Rubio to join Cruz so this dynamic duo can beat Donald Trump - and then Hillary Clinton - and finally… win the White House!  Today I’ll make the case for Rubio to join Cruz. For Rubio supporters, this is Rubio’s best opportunity to influence this election. For those who want a non-Trump candidate to beat Hillary—without alienating Trump voters—a Cruz-Rubio ticket is also your best bet. Indeed, Rush Limbaugh calls a Cruz-Rubio ticket the GOP’s “smartest move.” ...

Ken Blackwell: Mr. President, Mr. Secretary: It is Genocide. Say so!
President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have until March 17th to issue a determination that ISIS’ attacks on Christians in the Mideast are genocide. Time is running out. The foot-dragging and hesitancy of this administration in calling it genocide is inexplicable. Why do they have to be prodded to do what is right?  All of us have seen the horrific images of 21 Coptic Christians lined up on a North African beach and beheaded. These Egyptian martyrs died with the name of Jesus on their lips. These murders, rapes, arsons, and kidnappings are taking place daily in regions where ISIS has extended its bloodstained reach.  We see as well the destruction of homes, schools, and churches. Christians and other religious minorities are given the choice of conversion to Islam, paying extortionate sums (called jizya) to their persecutors, or fleeing.....

Jeff Jacoby: Samantha Power's Squandered Moral Authority                         On July 18, 2013, the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria issued a report on the savage war crimes being committed by the regime of Bashar al-Assad.   "Government forces and affiliated militia have committed murder, torture, rape, forcible displacement, enforced disappearance, and other inhumane acts," the report said. "Many of these crimes were perpetrated as part of widespread or systematic attacks against civilian populations and constitute crimes against humanity." Assad's forces were methodically starving civilian populations and deliberately bombarding hospitals, the commission reported. Torture had become "endemic," with prisoners having "boiling water poured on them and electric shocks administered."......
