Hoeven predicts efficiency bill will collapse without Keystone pipeline attached

Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) predicted Wednesday that bipartisan energy efficiency legislation heading to the Senate floor faces a grim future unless it eventually includes language to advance the Keystone XL oil pipeline.  A broad energy efficiency bill sponsored by Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) is believed to be coming to the Senate floor in late July.

Hoeven, who is weighing offering a Keystone amendment to the bill, said there’s not enough Republican support for the legislation on Capitol Hill unless it includes Keystone.  Asked if omitting Keystone would leave the bill without enough GOP support, Hoeven replied: “I think that is not only a very real possibility in the Senate, it is for darned sure true in the House.”...To Read More....
