EU climate change policy in crisis after MEPs vote against high CO2 prices

The European Union's climate change policy is on the brink of collapse today after MEPs torpedoed Europe's flagship CO2 emissions trading scheme by voting against a measure to support the price of carbon permits.  The price of carbon crashed up to 45 per cent to a record-low €2.63 a metric ton, after the European Parliament rejected a proposal to change the EU emissions-trading laws to delay the sale of 900m CO2 permits on the world's biggest carbon markets.   The European Commission measure, known as "backloading" was aimed at artificially raising the price of EU carbon permits by restricting supply after they fell to a record low in January due the economic slowdown and contraction in manufacturing across Europe….…Greens have reacted with anger to a vote and accused MEPs of putting jobs before the needs of the environment.  "Its outrageous that parliament seems to value polluting industry more than Europe's green future," said Julia Michalak of Climate Action Network Europe…..To Read More…..
My Take – If the Greens are against it …..it must be a good thing!   All of this was perfectly predictable.  Ideology must…..MUST…..eventually come up against reality and if the ideology is blatant nonsense, as most green initiatives are, then that ideology will crumble.   Green ideology has long abandoned solid foundational logic, facts or valid science in favor of mythical scares and irrational solutions.  Many of which are seriously detrimental to the environment.  Then the most important aspect of that event occurs. Those who continue to scream, rant and rave and demand that we ignore reality and continue to follow their failed and destructive views finally expose environmentalism for what it is.  The secular religion of the urban atheist.
