Another solar panel company goes belly-up, as reported by the Oregonian: SoloPower, the startup pitched as the most innovative player in Oregon solar manufacturing, will suspend its Portland operations in June and gut its remaining workforce. It’s unclear whether production will ever start back up, or whether the state will recoup millions of dollars in incentives meant to fuel the company’s growth and create hundreds of well-paying jobs. The development apparently came as a surprise Monday to the two state agencies charged with tracking its performance.
Solar industry analysts, though, have long anticipated its demise. They point to its rush to market — hurried along by eager government officials and private investors — with an expensive product that was only partly developed, and just as the solar market was tanking. Way to go, state agencies charged with tracking the performance of SoloPower! It’s wonderful that you’d be “surprised” by the failure of yet another green boondoggle with a ridiculous business model……. The SoloPower story includes all the usual fanciful promises of job creation, followed by the grim reality of a shuttered factory overseen by skeleton crews. There were promises of 140 permanent jobs – which wouldn’t exactly have been a stunning return on the state’s investment of $30 million in loans and tax credits......How bad will Oregon taxpayers get soaked? My Take - Did I see the word surprised? Only the stupid, foolish, greedy, delusional and 'green' could have been surprised. Everyone I know knew this was going to be the end result regarding every one of these 'green alternative' energy programs. Let's try and get this straight once and for all. Solar and wind energy are "NOT" alternatives to traditional energy sources. They are only alternatives to each other. Traditional energy sources such as coal fired or natural gas plants outperform these sources to such a degree that these 'alternatives' are only a parasite on the energy grid.
The solar and wind energy production technology isn’t that much better than it was when it was pushed by Jimmy Carter in the seventies. It failed then. Why then should we believe it would succeed now? We shouldn’t!
Furthermore the environmental impact of these ‘alternative’ programs has been proven to be far more devastating to the environment than anything currently being used. Green is a perfectly nice color and anything that attempts to make it more is foolish. We need to stop playing these stupid games about ‘going green’. All these green initiatives were based on the false premise that we were running out of oil, coal, natural gas, etc., and that CO2 was warming the planet to our destruction. All false……did everyone get that? The basic premise for going green is based fraud, wishful thinking and belief in the secular religion of the urban atheist - Environmentalism!
