An avalanche of French firms — Renault, PSA, Fauerecia, ArcelorMittal, Petroplus, Candia, Virgin, Sanofi, Fralib, Air France — face labour unrest over planned lay-offs as Europe’s Great Depression takes its relentless toll. Now, writes Wolf Richter (*) of the Testosteronepit blog, Paris fears social implosions.
The daily drumbeat of layoff and plant-closure announcements in France has been riling up desperate workers who stand to lose their livelihood without much hope of finding a job elsewhere as unemployment has hit 10.5%. But now the government is worried about a “radicalization” of these angry workers. A major quandary: on one hand, the Socialists promised during the election to side with the workers; but on the other hand, they must somehow figure out how to create an environment where the private sector can survive….To Read More…..
My Take – I know…I know….No one in the world could have foreseen this! Right? You will notice that is one of my pet phrases lately and there is a reason for it. The ‘Galacticly Stupid’ are always so sure they have the all answers to every social issue. Yet in reality they don’t even have the questions; and these are all highly educated people. How is it even remotely possible they couldn’t foresee the disasters created by imposing more insane green regulations and higher taxes, unless they are all intellectual morons? Then reality strikes and they get this "deer in the headlights" look in their eyes claiming no one could have foreseen these consequences.
The next question should be obvious to the most casual observer. Are those who embrace leftist ideology insane? We have over 100 years of history to show the totally destructive consequences of statist solutions, and we have over 225 years of history showing the successes capitalism brings. Yet they still adamantly spout failed socialist concepts claiming they will bring utopia to the world. History shows that socialist’s policies bring dystopia, not utopia. Dystopia follows all the various socialist schemes, including environmentalism, like Sancho Panza followed Don Quixote, and insane man. The media, the academics, the politicians and the activists must be filled with those who are insane! They certainly aren't progressive, because to make progress means abandoning that which doesn't work to find a way that works. And doing those things that fail over and over again in hopes that the next time will bring success is Einstein’s definition of insanity. Is it so hard to imagine that France is on its way to a Sixth Republic?
