Leftist Greens Appeal to Pope. They Must Really Be Desperate!

Benny Peiser's Global Warming Policy Foundation Reports That the UK Council Recommends Green Light For British Shale Revolution While Pope Francis Declares Global Warming ‘Mostly Man-Made’

Editor's Note: Going back to the end of the 19th century when European socialism was attempting to make inroads in the United States they had a foundational difficulty. It was atheistic in nature and at that time religious belief was the standard. So they adopted the moniker - Progressives - changing themselves into an angel of light by making religion the binding force for the progressivism. Shocked?  That’s where the Progressive Gospel came from.  That's history, and you may wish to read Jonah Goldberg's account of this in his book Liberal Fascism. But after WWII they didn't need these heretical religionists any longer and kicked them to the curb.  However, they’re not above trotting out leftist heretics from among these outwardly religious groups when it suits their needs, as they’ve done with the Pope. The Pope will find these new found friends will abandon him as soon as it's convenient, and then mock him, his church, and the idea of a supreme being. And what will all of this insanity from the Pope have gained him or the world? Nothing!  But we need to understand this.  This is a desperate last ditch effort on the part of the green left to promote this massive hoax by binding religion to their cause, because facts are destroying their cause around them.  So much for the brilliance of a Jesuit trained mind and Papal infallibility.

UK Council Recommends Green Light For British Shale Revolution - Shale gas firm Cuadrilla Resources received a boost in its plan to start fracking in north west England on Monday when local government recommended that its application to drill up to four exploration wells should be granted. The company’s project at Preston New Road near Blackpool could become Britain’s first shale gas production wells, and could lead a drive to develop the unconventional resource as Britain’s North Sea gas and oil production declines. --Reuters, 15 June 2015

Britain’s Crazy Climate Policy: Forests Go Up In Smoke - Where have all our woods gone? Up in smoke – as the new trendy ‘green’ wood-burning stoves and boilers (funded by tax millions) are being fuelled by birches and oaks… leaving swathes of Britain barren. --David Rose, Mail on Sunday, 14 June 2015

Pope Francis Declares Global Warming ‘Mostly Man-Made’  - Pope Francis said Thursday he is convinced that global warming is "mostly" man-made and that he hopes his upcoming encyclical on the environment will encourage negotiators at a climate change meeting in Paris to make "courageous" decisions to protect God's creation. While in the Philippines, Francis will meet with survivors of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan, which the government has said was an example of the extreme weather conditions that global warming has wrought. --Nicol Winfielde, Associated Press, 15 June 2015

Germany Must Accept Poland’s Coal Security Needs - President-Elect's Aide - The foreign policy adviser to Poland's president-elect has signalled a more assertive approach to Germany, saying Berlin must end its opposition to NATO military bases on Polish soil and also accept Warsaw's wish to protect its coal industry. Szczerski made clear Duda would challenge Germany on European Union energy policy too, where Berlin is a major advocate of renewable forms of energy and of cutting the bloc's reliance on carbon-emitting fuels such as coal. "Berlin must agree to such adjustments of EU's climate and energy policy that will allow the continued mining of Polish coal," he said. --Reuters, 14 June 2015

California’s mega-drought: don’t blame just Mother Nature

An op-ed in Forbes.com by James Conca notes the benefits of nuclear power in helping to ameliorate, to some extent, the disastrous drought now gripping California (and to a lesser extent, Oregon and Washington). Specifically, he notes the nuclear reactor at Diablo Canyon’s supply of energy to the desalinization plant nearby as key in helping to provide desperately needed fresh water to the region. (The author is a consultant with specialties in environmental science and geology, and has worked for both environmentally-focused activist groups such as NRDC, as well as the chemical industry).

Perhaps more such “desal” plants would help to alleviate the drastic water restrictions and skyrocketing energy costs that are accompanying this historic drought. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen. In 1976, the state’s voters forbade construction of any new nuclear facilities, out of baseless fear of nuclear power. Au contraire, in 2013 one-half of the state’s nuclear facilities was permanently shut down due to excessive wear found in the facility’s infrastructure (the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station). The remaining facility at Diablo Canyon accounts for approximately 18 percent of the state’s energy supply. The decline in hydropower’s contribution, coupled with the inability to construct more nuclear plants, has led, paradoxically, to a spike in both use of natural gas (counter to CA’s strict green policies) and in the cost of electricity there. (For a peer-reviewed evaluation of nuclear energy, see ACSH’s publication here.)….. Read more.

Op-ed writer counters false anti-GMO claims by professor

We wish we could say that an advanced academic degree leads one to respect scientific truth, but it ain’t necessarily so. In a hard-hitting opinion piece in the Chicago Tribune, Ms. Erin Gallagher counters every point made by an anti-GMO professor (St. Xavier University assistant professor Tatiana C. Tatum Parker) in an earlier commentary. The Trib describes Ms. Gallagher as “a freelance reporter for the Daily Southtown and a work-from-home mom with a small garden business. She is an active member of the Will County Farm Bureau and is on a volunteer advisory committee for the Illinois Farm Bureau.”

Ms. Gallagher counters many claims made by the professor — for example that both sides of the GMO debate “have sound arguments supported by data.” In truth, as Gallagher points out, there are many independent studies at universities worldwide that found that GMO foods and crops are safe and as nutritious as their non-GMO counterparts. In contrast, she asserts, “there is no reputable, peer-reviewed research opposing GM foods.” Yes!......Read more.

Jack Dini vs. the world of junk science (and the rest of the world)

Posted on by admin

Talk about a big job. Writing for the Canadian Press, Jack Dini’s new piece, “Chemicals—Don’t Trouble Oneself With the Facts,” goes way past the title.

Dini, who wrote a book entitled “Challenging Environmental Myths” (Institution of Engineering and Technology, 2003) comes out with guns blazing, and covers far more than chemicals. He writes about the inability of facts to change people’s minds, how and why they cling to their beliefs despite evidence to the contrary, and how the unparalleled amount of information that we are now exposed to contributes to this: “In other words, it’s never been easier for people to be wrong, and at the same time feel more certain that they’re right.”
Dini also examines GMOs, as well as the psychology behind the fear of them: “…the human mind is highly susceptible to the negative and often emotional representations put out by certain environmental groups and other opponents of GMOs.”

If this sounds like something that might come out of ACSH, in a way it is. Recently, we have featured two of his articles on chemophobia, and the way that naturally occurring poisons are overlooked, while “synthetic” chemicals are generally considered to be toxic.
Regarding “charismatic charlatans and quacks,” he quotes ACSH’s Dr. Gil Ross: “Unfortunately, all too often the snake-oil pitchmen do not appear as they did when P. T. Barnum was running the show. These days, they come all dressed up, often in scrubs and a stethoscope and do their pitching to a mass audience on popular TV shows.”.....To Read More......

Magna Carta and the Law that Governs Government

Mark J. Fitzgibbons

It was a time of abuse of power by the state, high taxes, foreign wars against aggressive, violent Muslims, cronyism, and unrest over civil, commercial and religious rights. Certain similarities between 1215 England and 2015 America are, as our British cousins might say, “delicious.”

Magna Carta is celebrated on June 15, 800 years after its first rendition was forced upon King John at Runnymede. It was John’s brother Richard the Lionheart who raised taxes to pay for the wars. Richard’s brother-successor King John ruled with arrogance, and never achieved the popularity of his brother.

Shortly after affixing his seal to the “Great Charter,” John asked Pope Innocent III to nullify it for being affirmed under duress. The Pope obliged, and in retrospect we should be grateful. Consent is not legitimate when given under duress. The civil war that prompted the Charter ensued. John soon died of excesses, and was succeeded by his nine-year old son Henry.  Magna Carta subsequently became law under young King Henry III… Jesuit political scholar Fr. James Schall recently wrote about the erosion of the spirit of Magna Carta:

At the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta we cannot but be concerned by how much its spirit of limiting rule and providing freedoms and immunities has been eroded. Often this erosion came by using the very words of its provisions, especially those of “rights,” to increase the power of government over citizens, to limit freedom of religion and speech, and to subject citizens to laws and customs much more regimenting than most people in the feudal order might have imagined possible. Any significant relation between natural and common law has been ignored. A written constitution is no longer a real limit on the will of the state. Much of this “development” has been occasioned by legal and intellectual authorities finding what they wanted to find in documents meant to prevent such arbitrary use of power. In many ways, the Magna Carta stands not as a foundation of free government, but as a witness to what happens when its spirit and provisions are ignored or interpreted out of existence.

From 1215 to 2015, we see the nature of government power to violate rights by violating the rule of law. Long live Magna Carta and the law that governs government..... To Read More...

Magna Carta Day

By Rich Kozlovich

It's the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, which is Latin for the Great Charter. I've mentioned this to a number of people over this last week and it's startling how many have no idea what I'm talking about. Here’s a link to the history. One thing that must be remembered. King John….you remember him as the corrupt brother of King Richard Coeur de Leon of Robin Hood fame ….that story is a load of clabber by the way. Richard didn’t even speak English and rarely lived in England. So what are the important things to remember. The Magna Carta established the King didn’t rule by divine right and the King later renounced the Magna Carta, did everything in his power to destroy all copies of the document and warred against those who signed it.  Think about that for a while!

Twin peaks – twin lies

Supposedly record-high temperature and carbon dioxide levels supposedly bring record chaos

Paul Driessen and Tom Tamarkin

A recent NOAA article is just what Doctor Doom ordered. It claims the 18-year “hiatus” in rising planetary temperatures isn’t really happening. (The “pause” followed a 20-year modest temperature increase, which followed a prolonged cooling period.) The article states:

“Here we present an updated global surface temperature analysis that reveals that global trends are higher than reported by the IPCC, especially in recent decades, and that the central estimate for the rate of warming during the first 15 years of the 21st century is at least as great as the last half of the 20th century. These results do not support the notion of a ‘slowdown’ in the increase of global surface temperature.”

Published in Science magazine to ensure extensive news coverage before critics could expose its flaws, the report was indeed featured prominently in the national print, television, radio and electronic media.

It’s part of the twin peaks thesis: Peaking carbon dioxide levels will cause peaking temperatures, which will lead to catastrophic climate and weather. Unfortunately for alarmists, the chaos isn’t happening.

No category 3-5 hurricane has hit the United States for a record 9-1/2 years. Tornadoes, droughts, polar bears, polar ice, sea levels and wildfires are all in line with (or improvements on) historic patterns and trends. The Sahel is green again, thanks to that extra CO2. And the newly invented disasters they want to attribute to fossil fuel-driven climate change – allergies, asthma, Islamic State and Boko Haram – don’t even pass the laugh test.

The NOAA report appears to have been another salvo in the White House’s attempt to regain the offensive, ahead of the Heartland Institute’s Tenth International Climate Conference. However, a growing number of prominent analysts have uncovered serious biases, errors and questions in the report.

Climatologists Pat Michaels, Dick Lindzen, and Chip Knappenberger point out that the NOAA team adjusted sea-surface temperature (SST) data from buoys upward by 0.12 degrees Celsius, to make them “homogenous” with lengthier records from engine intake systems in ships. However, engine intake data are “clearly contaminated by heat conduction” from the ships, and the data were never intended for scientific use – whereas the global buoy network was designed for environmental monitoring.

So why not adjust the ship data downward, to “homogenize” them with buoy data, and account for the contamination? Perhaps because, as Georgia Tech climatologist Judith Curry observed, this latest NOAA analysis “will be regarded as politically useful for the Obama administration.” However, it will not be “particularly useful” for improving our understanding of what is happening in Earth’s climate system.

Dr. Curry and the previously mentioned scientists also note that the buoy network has covered an increasingly wide area over the past couple decades, collecting high quality data. So again, why did NOAA resort to shipboard data? The ARGO buoys and satellite network (both omitted in this new analysis) do not show a warming trend – whereas the NOAA methodology injects a clear warming trend.

Canadian economist and statistical expert Ross McKitrick also analyzed the NOAA approach. He concluded that it wipes out the global warming hiatus that eight other studies have found. Its adjustments to SST records for 1998-2000 had an especially large effect, he says. Dr. McKitrick also recaps the problems scientists have with trying to create consistent temperature records from the multiple measurement methods employed over the centuries.

Theologian, ethicist and climate analyst Calvin Beisner provides an excellent summary of all these and other critiques of the deceptive NOAA paper.

It is also important to note that, in reality, NOAA is quibbling about hundredths of a degree – essentially the margin of error. On that basis it rejects multiple studies that found planetary warming has stopped.

Britain’s Global Warming Policy Forum succinctly concludes: “This is a highly speculative and slight paper that produces a statistically marginal result by cherry-picking time intervals, resulting in a global temperature graph that is at odds with those produced by the UK Met Office and NASA,” as well as by other exhaustive data monitoring reports over the past four decades.

The vitally important bottom line is simple.

The central issue in this ongoing debate is not whether Planet Earth is warming. The issue is: How much is it warming? How much of the warming and other climate changes are due to mankind’s use of fossil fuels and emission of greenhouse gases – and how much are due to the same powerful natural forces that have driven climate and weather fluctuations throughout Earth and human history? And will any changes be short-term or long-term … and good, bad, neutral or catastrophic?

At this time, there is no scientific evidence – based on actual observations and measurements of temperatures and weather events – that humans are altering the climate to a significant or dangerous degree. Computer models, political statements and hypothetical cataclysms cannot and must not substitute for that absence of actual evidence, especially when the consequences would be so dire for so many. In fact, even the “record high” global average temperature of 2014 was concocted and a margin of error.

Simply put, the danger is not climate change – which will always be with us. The danger is energy restrictions imposed in the name of controlling Earth’s perpetually fickle climate.

Moreover, the IPCC’s top climate official says the UN’s unelected bureaucrats are undertaking “probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the [global capitalist] economic development model.” Another IPCC director says, “Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection. The next world climate summit is actually an economy summit, during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated.”

That summit could give government officials and environmental activists the power to eliminate fossil fuels, control businesses and entire economies, and tell families what living standards they will be permitted to enjoy – with no accountability for the damage that will result from their actions.

For developed nations, surrendering to the climate crisis industry would result in fossil fuel restrictions that kill jobs, reduce living standards, health, welfare and life spans – and put ideologically driven government bureaucrats in control of everything people make, grow, ship, eat and do.

For poor countries, implementing policies to protect energy-deprived masses from computer-generated manmade climate disasters decades from now would perpetuate poverty and diseases that kill them tomorrow. Denying people their basic rights to have affordable, reliable energy, rise up out of poverty, and enjoy modern technologies and living standards would be immoral – a crime against humanity.

Countries, communities, companies and citizens need to challenge and resist these immoral, harmful, tyrannical, lethal and racist EPA, IPCC, UN and EU decrees. Otherwise, the steady technological, economic, health and human progress of the past 150 years will come to a painful, grinding halt – sacrificed in the name of an illusory and fabricated climate crisis.

No Strategy. No Clue.

Posted by Alan Caruba @ Warning Signs

The Wednesday, June 10 Wall Street Journal headline at the top of the page was “Obama Set to Expand Troops in Iraq.” We were 589 days into the two terms Barack Hussein Obama has served in the office of President of the United States and he is as clueless now as he was when he arrived on January 20, 2009.

“President Barack Obama is poised to send hundreds more American advisers to a new base in a strategic Iraqi region to help devise a counterattack against marauding Islamic State militants, U.S. officials said Tuesday, a shift that underscores American concern over recent battlefield losses.” It’s 450 “trainers.”

We have had losses because (1) Obama was elected on a promise to end the conflict in Iraq and (2) reelected by pulling out troops to the point that the remaining Iraqi troops—Shiites in the south—decided it wasn’t worth dying for their leaders. Can’t say I blame them, but dying at the hands of ninth century Islamic fanatics is the fate that threatens the entire Middle East, not just Iraq or what’s left of it.

This is how we lost the war in Vietnam. There was a time when Americans utterly destroyed their enemies on the battlefield. In the latter half of the last century, starting in Korea, we forgot how to do that and why that’s how wars are won.

In all candor, like a lot of Americans, I went back and forth about the Mideast conflicts. Looking back, I think George H.W. Bush showed remarkable insight when, after driving Iraq’s Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait, he stopped at the border and came home. George W. had the notion he could somehow introduce democracy to the region. He couldn’t and it will likely never really occur there because Islam is the only law and it has kept the region ignorant, backward, and under the thumb of tyrants for centuries.

The Islamic State troops must be stopped at some point, but Obama is not the President who will do it. Whatever U.S. backed combat occurs will be just enough to present enough television news images to convince the gullible that progress is being made.

Obama arrived in office without any strategy and has spent the last six and a half years “muddling through” as the British say. He and the Democratic Party had only one goal; to win the elections. After that, they wanted to “fundamentally transform” the greatest nation on planet Earth. They have largely made a mess out of everything they touched from ObamaCare to Common Core.

There’s a reason why Obama will send more troops and that’s because every one of our allies has told him that, if the U.S. does not again assert its role of global leadership, they are not going to cooperate with him in a thousand different ways.

Our allies in the Mideast have told him they lack the military strength (and will) to conduct any kind of war with ISIS. The U.S. and much of the rest of the world cannot afford to sit by and let the enormous oil wealth and reserves of the Mideast come under the control of ISIS.

So, once again we read headlines about U.S. troops returning to the Mideast.

What that means is that the 2016 elections are more critical to the future of the nation than all previous ones.

I think Americans, liberals, conservatives and independents alike have had more than enough of President No Strategy. I think there are enough older Americans who remember and take pride in a nation that was unabashedly the world’s leader in the pursuit of peace and democracy. And I think that the thirty percent or so of brain-dead liberals are not sufficient to affect the outcome of a 2016 election devoted to restoring the nation’s economy and leadership.

It can be done. John F. Kennedy was on his way to doing so. Reagan did so. In 590 days from now, we can begin to do so again.

How Can Well Educated People Believe Failure is Good?

By Rich Kozlovich

The left has failed to come up with a single policy that can stand the test of time going back approximately 225 years to the French Revolution.  So when we see these same insane policies and philosophies being promoted we need to ask why?  The answer is simple.  The left wishes to destroy the American economy in order to destroy the U.S. Constitution.  That can only lead to one conclusion - they must be insane!

For over one hundred years the left has been forming a coalition of blacks, Hispanics, radical environmentalists, civil rights activists, homosexuals, celebrities in Hollywood and entertainment, the media, illegal aliens, unions, the chronically unemployed we used to call bums, the startlingly uninformed and under informed, and fellow leftists within the population in general.

Based on polls and past voting patterns that number probably runs around 45%.

These leftists will commit any illegality to attain the power they need in order to re-distribute the nation's wealth and turn the United States in to a a totalitarian socialist state claiming that's the only way to bring humanity into a utopian world, devoid of greed and capitalism.  Yet for 225 years all they've delivered is dystopia - misery, disease, suffering, poverty and early death, with greed and tyranny in place of capitalism.  The greatest mass murderers in human history were in the 20th century and those crimes were perpetrated by leftists - Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pot Pol and the left's favorite genocidal maniac - Fidel Castro.

At some point the insane population will be so large the sane population won’t be able to outvote them.  That will leave the sane with no options except civil disobedience and defiance on a level the left has never seen in this country.  The rule of law will cease to exist leaving zealots to restore the Constitutional rights we now think of as unalienable bestowed on us by Almighty God.  A civil war!  Based on history - if it comes to that I can assure you nothing will ever be the same.

The Democrats Have the Worst Presidential Candidates in America

Posted by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog

It’s fashionable for the media to mock the “clown car” of the Republican presidential primary field.

And it’s true that the Republican Party is burdened with a surplus of overqualified candidates with name recognition; successful governors, smart young senators and even a celebrated surgeon and CEO.

Meanwhile the Democratic Party’s “inevitable” candidate is inevitably generating financial scandals faster than her husband generated his inevitable sex scandals.

Competing against her is Senator Bernie Sanders who is currently discussing 90 percent tax rates and why he believes women want to be raped. His winning campaign slogan is “You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants when children are hungry in this country.”

You also don’t need a choice of 23 highly qualified conservative free market candidates when you can choose between Hillary Clinton and a senile Socialist from Vermont visiting late night talk shows to discuss his rape fantasies. Either Hillary Clinton will take all your money or Bernie Sanders will take all your money and then take away your underarm spray deodorants for the sake of all the hungry children.

And you’re lucky if that’s all he does.

The Republican primary field may be laissez faire overcrowded, but the Democratic primary field celebrates a centrally planned economy in which there is only one mandated winner; Hillary.

The Democratic Party is like shopping at a Soviet supermarket. There isn’t anything to buy and what little there is, is so terrible that you would rather go hungry than take it home.

If a creepy old Socialist and the Clinton Crime Family don’t suit you, what about a former mayor of Baltimore? Martin O’Malley is polling badly in his own state and his biggest career accomplishment was cleaning up Baltimore. Since Baltimore is now run by roving street gangs killing each other on alternate blocks, that’s not the best possible resume for a presidential candidate. Unfortunately the only other thing that O’Malley is famous for is taxing the rain as governor.

He can either run as the former mayor of the city that the country is watching tear itself apart on television or he can run as the tax-happy politician who will tax even more things than Bernie Sanders. Voters can choose between a wealthy Socialist whose net worth is ten times that of the ordinary American, but thinks ordinary people are too rich because they can afford underarm deodorant.

Or they can cast their vote for a man who will tax water falling from the sky.

If you don’t like those choices, Lincoln Chafee, who has been a Republican, an Independent and now a Democrat, has entered the race with a vow to switch the country over to the metric system.

Chafee, inspired by his time in Canada, called for “a bold embrace of internationalism” by going metric. He also promised that the chaos, waste, expense and accidents involved in switching the country to a new measurement system would “help our economy”.

He also implied that it would atone for the Iraq War.

The ghost of Saddam Hussein still haunting his palaces would probably prefer a more devastating revenge, but his mustachioed spirit will have to settle for Chafee confusing shoppers in aisle 9.

If you still need a scorecard, Bernie Sanders will take away your underarm deodorant and possibly molest you. Martin O’Malley will tax any rain that falls on you and Lincoln Chafee will make shopping at the supermarket more expensive and confusing as an apology to the world for overthrowing Saddam.

Communist Yugoslavia had more inspiring elections. North Korea’s dictator hates ordinary people less than the 2016 Democrats running in a race to see which of them can deprive you of more things for the greater good. This isn’t a clown car. It’s a burning Yugo filled with the acid dreams of decaying leftists.

Hillary Clinton couldn’t have come up with a better argument for winning the Democratic primaries if she had handpicked each and every one of the three losers and lunatics running against her.

And it wouldn’t be too surprising if she had.

Every corrupt revelation about the Clinton Crime Family can be countered by pointing to the rest of the primary field. Hillary can just go on sitting out the primaries while Bernie Sanders unintentionally campaigns for her by explaining how he would like to rape the voters economically and physically.

Of course that’s not the picture on any television set tuned to the channels of the mainstream media.

There Bernie Sanders is a principled public servant who occasionally writes eccentric things about wanting to rape women and while his ideas about 90 percent tax rates may not be workable yet, they show how much integrity he has. Lincoln Chafee is yet another principled public servant even if, like Charlie Crist, he has trouble settling on a single set of principles. Martin O’Malley only taxed the rain because he cares about the environment and Hillary Clinton isn’t responsible for anything that her foundation or email server does. And even if she is, she isn’t because what difference does it make?

Meanwhile the Republican primary field of successful governors, doctors, CEOs and senators is a pack of laughable contemptible cretins who don’t deserve half the respect of Senator Rape, Governor Kilometer and Mayor Mob. Not to mention Secretary of State Benghazi.

The Republican field is not only more diverse with Ben Carson, an African-American neurosurgeon, Bobby Jindal, the Indian-American governor of Louisiana, and Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP, it’s unequivocally more serious. Its top candidates across the political spectrum are discussing serious issues and making important policy proposals. Its governors are reformers who tackled big problems in their states.

Meanwhile the Democrats have Hillary Clinton who spent her time as Secretary of State partying and doing favors for major donors while Americans died. They have Bernie Sanders who thinks that the problem is that Americans can afford different brands of deodorant while he wallows in his own Socialist stink. They almost have Elizabeth Warren, who lacks the courage to actually come out and run against Hillary, but whose supporters in the media keep trying to kneecap her like Tonya Harding’s boyfriend.

The media mocks the Republican presidential field as a clown car while the Democrat field is a bankrupt Socialist banana republic consisting of cranks, thieves, failures and lunatics.

It doesn’t look like America. Instead it looks like a Marx Brothers take on Cuba.

While the Republican field brings fresh ideas and personalities, the Democrats have dusted off a collection of unappealing politicians whom even their own voters can’t get enthusiastic about.

Hillary Clinton is the frontrunner despite polling underwater in likability. Even Marylanders don’t want Martin O’Malley to be president. And Bernie Sanders will be lucky to carry Vermont and Berkeley.

If I were a Democrat, I would be ashamed of belonging to a party incapable of fielding anything better than a bunch of crazy corrupt hacks who can’t even be bothered to come up with a credible platform that doesn’t involve the metric system or stealing all the deodorant.

Or in Hillary’s case, promising anything to anyone who will give her enough money. The Democratic Party has fielded the worst slate of presidential candidates in the country. Maybe even the world. Its only possible support comes from voters who hate America, rain, ounces and deodorant.

Observations From the Back Row

Obama Taunts Supreme Court on Obamacare Case - It’s déjà vu all over again. President Obama’s comments about King v. Burwell during a press conference at the G-7 summit in Germany earlier this week echo those he made when the Affordable Care Act was before the Supreme Court in 2012.Putting on his constitutional-lawyer-in-chief hat in 2012, Obama said, “I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”Apparently, Obama believes that as long as a majority in Congress agrees, they can do anything they want, no matter how unconstitutional…..

Obama: King v. Burwell 'Easy Case' That Supreme Court Probably 'Shouldn't' Have Taken Up - “I agree with the president that the case should be ‘easy’ to decide since by the letter of the statute, tax credits are available only to those who purchase insurance on an exchange ‘established by the State,’ not to those who purchase insurance through the federally-run exchange,” he said. “When Congress passes a law that says one thing, the administration should not be able to ‘interpret’ that law so as to argue that Congress really meant the exact opposite of the plain language contained in the statute they passed.”…

How Much Would You Save If Congress Removed Obamacare's Insurance Regulations?- Every day there seems to be another article focused on how many individuals might lose their subsidies if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the plaintiffs in the King v. Burwell case.  Yet, an even bigger group of individuals harmed by Obamacare has an equally good claim for relief that hasn’t gotten as much attention—the people who, thanks to Obamacare, must pay more for health insurance but who never got subsidies.  The Obamacare subsidies were intended, in part, to hide the law’s unpopular effects. At their root, Obamacare’s costly regulations, dictating what insurers can sell and what individuals and employers can buy, have resulted in premium costs going up, not down. In the 34 states potentially affected by the Court’s ruling, those regulations have driven up costs not only for the estimated 6.4 million receiving coverage subsidies, but also for at least another 15 million who have been forced to pay more for their health insurance without getting any subsidy.

The New Congressional Plan to Repeal and Replace Obamacare - Lawmakers released the plan Thursday as the GOP-led Congress prepares to attack the Affordable Care Act. Both houses of Congress have already signaled their intentions to repeal Obamacare by a simple majority vote using the reconciliation process—just as the law was passed in 2010. The new GOP plan, American Health Care Reform Act, was written by Reps. Phil Roe of Tennessee and Austin Scott of Georgia. It has the backing of the Republican Study Committee, a caucus made up of nearly 170 members of the House of Representatives…..

Rocky Mountain High Producing Some Undesirable Side Effects – De Beque, Colo., is little more than an outpost nestled along I-70 as it winds its way through the rugged hills of western Colorado. Clearly visible from the highway is the quirky façade of Kush Gardens, the first recreational pot shop to be approved in Mesa County….

4 Liberal Myths About Ronald Reagan Debunked - Presidential historian H. W. Brands’ new biography of Ronald Reagan and his conclusion that modern American politics is best seen as “The Age of Reagan” has aroused liberals to circulate once again the hoariest myths about the man and his presidency, including the malicious charge that Reagan was deliberately indifferent to the lot of African-Americans and other minorities.  Liberal Myth No. 1: Reagan’s dangerously belligerent foreign policy had little to do with the disintegration of Soviet Communism. Mikhail Gorbachev was the leader most responsible for bringing the Cold War to a non-nuclear conclusion…..

Campolo Accepts Sodomy Because He Rejects Scripture - When we come to any issue, as Christians, there should always be this question that pops into our head. What does the Bible say? So whether we are asking a question concerning business, family relations or sexual morality, we should always seek the wisdom of the word of God. Now, this is the attitude of many Christians, but for those who are only Christian in name, this is not an option. So, when someone like Tony Campolo declares his acceptance of sodomite couples into his fellowship, we should not be surprised. He can make this decision because he has rejected Scripture.  Christian News reports  …..

Movie Night at the State Dep't: 'Matt Shepard Is a Friend of Mine' - June 12 is movie night at the U.S. State Department, where the push for global homosexual "rights" has never been stronger.  In conjunction with the Council for Global Equality, the Obama State Department plans to screen the award-winning documentary, "Matt Shepard Is a Friend of Mine."  "This film powerfully shares the story of University of Wyoming student, Matthew Shepard, who was beaten and killed for being gay," the State Department announced……The Obama administration has made "gay rights" both a domestic and a foreign policy priority."Defending and promoting the human rights of LGBT persons is at the core of our commitment to advancing human rights globally -- the heart and conscience of our diplomacy," Secretary of State Kerry said this past February, when he named Berry as the nation's first envoy for gay rights...

The “What’s Next” of Homosexuality and Transsexuality is here, and it is Worse than You Thought - With all the new isms and sexual variances popping up in our society, clamoring to be heard and given special rights, we have focused solely on the sexual sin and the direction that things could move. Many have been warning that the Homosexual rights movement was not the end. Many have been saying that bestiality and multi-couples were just over the horizon. The fear being that if the people of the same sex can marry, then why can’t a man marry his dog? What is wrong with four people marrying each other?  As frightening as these possibilities are, they may pale to what is coming out of Canada.  Breitbart reported….

Unions Hate Fast-Track So Much, Even Worker Protections Are Worth Sacrificing - Unions are praising House Democrats for killing a program meant to help workers negatively impacted by international trade Friday in an effort to damage another measure that could grant President Barack Obama unilateral trade powers. “In rejecting the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) portion of the trade package this afternoon, a resounding bipartisan majority of lawmakers agreed that workers don’t want to be retrained for a new career,” Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa said in a statement. “They want to keep the good middle-class jobs they have now. Despite the fact the House also approved the fast track portion of the package doesn’t change that. The House considered the same joint legislation that the Senate passed last month and said no.” …..To Read More…..

New Jersey Supreme Court Allows Christie's Cut in Pension Contributions - The Supreme Court of New Jersey ruled in a 5-2 decision today in favor of the Chris Christie administration, reversing a lower court’s ruling that found Gov. Christie’s roughly $1.6 billion cut in 2015 pension contributions violated an enforceable contractual obligation. The state’s high court ruling effectively allows that and future proposed cuts to stand. This is welcomed news for Christie and the state of New Jersey as an unexpected decline in revenue means the state has no money to make the contributions…… Hopefully this decision will spur New Jersey to action and fiscal sanity rather than allowing the state to kick the can down the road. New Jersey faces significant fiscal woes, and massive unfunded public pension obligations are a huge part of those woes. Every bill that is not paid and every pension contribution that is not made will be added, with interest, to future taxpayers’ bill...

CNN Anchor HatesPolitical Correctness thinks Liberals are “Least Tolerant”! - CNN’s Don Lemon is a popular personality on their daily TV programming. While he is African-American and homosexual, Lemon can often be counted on to express opinions that run counter to liberal orthodoxy, and for that he is generally respected on both sides of the political aisle…..

Hillary Clinton Battered by Awesome Republican Attacks - How will She Make it Through the Campaign? - Carly Fiorina and the Republican National Committee released dueling ads on Thursday that take a few good swings at the presumptive Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Here is the RNC’s excoriating ad which paints a bleak picture of Hillary Clintons moral fiber and of her willingness to dirty her hands in some contemptible practices……

Let America Fix the Highways Washington Broke - Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Ron DeSantis want to give the states, not Washington, control over highways and slash the gas tax from 18 cents a gallon to 4 cents.

Ex-Intelligence Chief: “Iran Has EveryIntention to Build an ICBM and a Nuclear Weapons Program” - The former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency delivered a stinging critique of the Obama administration’s Mideast policies on Wednesday, slamming its refusal to define the enemy as Islamic extremism, arguing that its approach towards Iran amounts to “wishful thinking,” and saying the U.S. has lost the trust of its allies in the region.  In oral and written testimony on Capitol Hill, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn said he believes Iran has every intention of building a nuclear weapon, and warned that the ripple effects of that outcome would shift the global balance of power….

Nonproliferation Expert: Iran Nuclear Deal ‘Will Be a Historic Blunder,’ ‘Strategic Mistake’ - The emerging nuclear agreement with Iran would be a “historic blunder” that eclipses other foreign policy debacles in recent decades, a former undersecretary of state for arms control and international security told lawmakers on Wednesday.  "In my view, if there is an agreement along the lines that has been described by the White House and by the Iranian leadership, I believe it will represent perhaps the single greatest strategic mistake in the national security area in the past 35-plus years of my career,” said Ambassador Robert Joseph.  “And this includes some real blunders,” he continued, citing the Carter administration’s botched attempt to rescue U.S. hostages in Iran in 1980; the 1994 “Agreed Framework” nuclear deal with North Korea; the Obama administration’s attempted Russian “reset” in 2009; and the 2013 Syrian chemical weapons “red line debacle.”….. “Ballistic missiles are not a separate and secondary issue, but part and parcel of Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure,” he said. “That’s why Congress has targeted Iran’s missile program with sanctions right alongside its nuclear program.”

The bees are all right! Stop worrying about them and start worrying about the science

Posted on June 12, 2015 by admin

“The bees are ok”– that’s the message Terence Corcoran hammers home in his latest article for the Financial Post. The piece comes on the heels of Canada’s Minister of the Environment, Glen Murray, announcing that the country will start doing more for the “declining” bee populations. However, as Corcoran explains exhaustively with data, this policy is not only unnecessary but may be harmful to the country’s economy.

The article points out that Murray’s plan for Canada includes an 80 percent reduction in the use of a class of pesticides known as neonicotinoids: these pesticides are relatively recent in their development and are perceived of as safer by farmers and most scientists, as compared with older pesticides. There is little evidence that they are harming bees. But there is a lot of evidence that bee populations in Canada are not only surviving, they are flourishing. Corcoran makes reference to data presented by Canadian federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz on the state of bees in Canada:

“The country’s total number of bee colonies has increased by 136,000 since 2008. Canadian beekeepers are producing almost 26,000 more pounds of honey than five years ago. Honey farm cash receipts have increased by $65,000 per farm since 2008, and in 2012, beekeepers produced 90 million pounds of honey worth $173 million, so those are some pretty good stats.”

This isn’t to say we shouldn’t be discussing policies for bee populations and pollinator health in general, but as he states (and so have we) the policies we enact to help these organisms need to be based in science. He makes special note of the recent White House report which echoes a similar sentiment: we need more science and data before we can start making policy.

There are no “lone wolves” in the jihad war - Here’s the thing: there are no “lone wolves” in the jihad war. There are millions of Muslim soldiers all over the world who are all following the same playbook - the Quran - and the same ideology - Islam……

No Complete Strategy in Iraq, But Embassies Getting Complete Movie Channel Packages - The U.S. embassy personnel can enjoy first-run movies right until the Islamic State blades start slicing their necks. The Obama administration here reveals its priorities; do they want to make sure that embassy personnel will be too distracted to start pestering the State Department with requests for help when the jihadis come, as they did to no avail in Benghazi? “No Complete Strategy”  in Iraq, But Embassies Getting Complete Movie Channel Packages,” ……

My Take - The fact there's no complete strategy is actually understandable. In order to create a strategy one has to have be able to define the problem.  Since they have adamantly refused to identify Islam as the problem they can't possibly envision any viable solution.  Without a solution - or a goal as it were - there can be no strategy that's worthwhile.  And this isn't an affliction of Obama alone.  Bush, McCain and a host of other "conservatives" have exactly the same problem.

Let me say this again.  Definition leads to clarity.  Clarity leads to understanding.  Understanding leads to good decision making.  Then and only then can we have harmony.  This failure of definition is far and wide in the western world, thus leaving a vaccumn of understanding.  So the world's leaders allow the hate filled left to define events - or perhaps I should say they obfuscate the facts surrounding events.  How stupid - or cowardly - can the world's leaders be to allow such insanity?

Mohammed was a Thug

July 25, 2005 by Alan Burkhart

I recently set out to learn more about Islam. I had no agenda at the time except to broaden my knowledge on the subject. What I have learned sickened me. I had previously been accepting of the notion that Islam was a peaceful religion and that the Muslim terrorists who inflict so much pain and death around the world represented a fringe element outside of mainstream Islam. I was wrong. The Islamic deity, Allah, is a false god. While the term "Allah" does indeed carry the same meaning as "God," Mohammed's Allah is nothing more than a construct of a vile false prophet who sought to create an empire upon the rotting corpses of his enemies. Let's review some history.

In 621 A.D. Mohammed was in Mecca preaching to any who would listen that he alone was the Divine Prophet of the One God, Allah. Meccans eventually grew tired of his ranting and demanded that he cease and desist. With a tiny band of followers, Mohammed sneaked out of Mecca in the dead of night and traveled to the Jewish city of Medina. He and his followers were sick, tired, and hungry and the Jews there took them in and nursed them to good health……To Read More……

Editor’s Note: In the comments section the author responded to an article posted on another blog in which he had this to say:……

“most people, even most Muslims, do not realize that Islam is a political ideology, and not a religion, and are fooled by the use of religious jargon terms such as prophet, peace, paradise, the path of God, holy book, God's Law, etc. Mohammed, except for a few details, was no different than Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Hitler, and other evil conquerors.”

“What are the few details? As I explained in a
previous article Mohammed was "a pedophile, a narcissist, a mass murderer, an assassin, a looter, a lecher, a madman, a torturer, a terrorist, a cult-leader, a misogynist, a rapist, a genocidal maniac, a tyrant who had slaves, tortured people, robbed caravans, cheated on his wives, ordered political assassinations, and demanded death of those who left his so-called religion." Why are so many people fooled? First consider that the majority of Muslims (and the rest of the world) do not understand Arabic and so cannot read the passages which instruct Muslims to rape, pillage, kill, subjugate and convert infidels and are thus completely unaware that Islam is not a religion. However, there is a name for those who do understand Arabic and take their Qu`ran seriously: terrorists. “

“And what of Muslims who understand Arabic, who understand that the Qu`ran is an unholy book of terror, who do not agree with its contents, but yet remain Muslim? Well, that's understandable - most likely they're afraid to convert to a real religion for fear of being killed for apostasy. The rest of the Muslim world is deluded. Had Mohammed not garbed his evil ways with religious jargon, he certainly would be viewed today as one of the world's most evil and savage of men. One day the world will wake up.”
