What Lomborg Leaves Out

By Jeffrey Folks

Danish author Bjorn Lomborg has articulated one of the most compelling arguments against the agenda of the climate alarmists – not by denying climate change, but by demonstrating how wasteful all government attempts are to control it.  For years, in books such as Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming, Lomborg has been the adult in the room, pointing out that hundreds of billions of dollars have been squandered on green energy even as one billion of the world's people go hungry.  Had those dollars been invested productively, the world would be a better place.  In this conclusion Lomborg is most certainly correct, and he has shown extraordinary courage in confronting the climate alarmists.

My Take - For those who've not read Lomborg's Skeptical Environmentalist .... please do so.  If you're interesting in the corruption of environmentalism this is a must read.  However - I was disappointed in his view of Anthropogenic Global Warming.  He believes mankind is at least partly to "blame".  We need to understand - those of us who've been "deniers" over the years don't deny there's global warming or global cooling.  We know this has gone on for time immemorial.   What we deny is mankind capacity to impact climate either way.  The day may come when mankind can do that ---- but it's not today, nor was it yesterday, nor will it be tomorrow. If we can't predict weather effectively a week out - why would we believe political activists in government and science can predict climate fifty or one hundred years in the future.  Activists will say - weather isn't climate.  True - climate is infinitely more complex.
