Two Senate bills designed to protect American citizens from illegal immigrants died on the Senate floor Wednesday afternoon, Kate’s law and a bill to defund cities that grant sanctuary to illegal immigrants. Each of the bills garnered support from a majority of senators – but not the 60 votes necessary to avoid a filibuster. One of the two bills was Kate’s Law, which would have strengthened the sentences for people who are caught entering the country illegally two or more times.
Introduced by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) the legislation is named after Kate Steinle, the 32-year-old woman who was killed in July 2015 by an illegal alien who had several felony convictions and had been deported from the United States five times. Ms. Steinle was shot to death while she was walking along the San Francisco pier with her dad......To Read More....
My Take - Excuse me....but who holds the majority in the Senate? Whomever that is - and quite frankly it's hard to tell - is responsible for the failure of this bill. When the Democrats have the majority they get exactly what they want. When the Republicans get the majority the Democrats get exactly what they want. Why? Because it's difficult to tell so many of them apart.
Is it any wonder so many Senate Republicans hate Ted Cruz. So many of the Senate Republicans simply aren't conservatives, election year pandering notwithstanding. I linked an article last week from Conservative Review with the names and how CR rated them on their conservative voting records entitled, "You can thank these 20 Republicans for Loretta Lynch",by Chris Pandolfo. Who were they?
Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn. (F, 19%), Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H. (F, 34%), Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C. (F, 43%), Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va. (F, 27%), Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss. (F, 27%), Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine (F, 12%), Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn. (F, 47%), Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas (F, 46%), Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. (F, 50%), Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo. (F, 47%)
Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-S.C. (F,33%), Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah (F, 37%), Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. (D, 60%), Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill. (F, 19%), Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. (F, 44%), Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio (F, 49%), Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan. (F, 55%), Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D. (F, 33%), Sen. John Thune, R-S.D. (F, 48%), Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C. (F, 33%).
As you look over this list you will find many of these names supporting leftist initiatives over and over again, giving leftists in the Senate want they want while placing the burden of responsibility for these leftist efforts on the Republicans. There's a reason they call the Republicans the "Dumb Party!" But in no way can they the "Conservative Party". Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-S.C. (F,33%), Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah (F, 37%), Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. (D, 60%), Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill. (F, 19%), Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. (F, 44%), Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio (F, 49%), Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan. (F, 55%), Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D. (F, 33%), Sen. John Thune, R-S.D. (F, 48%), Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C. (F, 33%).
