How Much Government is Too Much Government?

By Rich Kozlovich

My friend Maury Siskle, who is a retired scientist around 80, can only be described as a truly concerned citizen. So Maury sends me - and the rest of his net -stuff all day everyday that is worthwhile and a lot of it gets posted here. Dave sent this to me last night asking me - and the rest of his net - to go through these and make a list of the ones that should be terminated?

And Nancy Pelosi says there's nothing left to cut. Imagine that?

Okay, now that you have made some effort to go over this calliope of madness do you think it's possible to trim just a few of these organizations? I use the word calliope deliberately because a calliope is impressive in appearance, and is a musical instrument that produces sound by forcing compressed gas or steam through large whistles.

I have a few departments that think are unnecessary. Just for a start, let's see if we can do without the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, Interior, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, and with all the agencies and departments devoted to stopping crime, violence, spying, counter insurgency and terrorism, I think we need to dismantle Homeland Security.

If we eliminate these departments and all their agencies it will be much easier to find out what is really necessary. After all, I believe it was over 90% of EPA personal who were found to be unnecessary during the shutdown. I would be willing to bet that's true the rest of the time also. Just think how many of these jobs could have been eliminated if being "dangerous and destructive" was the criteria!
