What we insist on calling “immigration” from the Third
World to Western European countries like Britain is a historically new
phenomenon, for which a case can be made that other, more appropriate terms
should be used — like “colonization” and “invasion.”
The definition of “colony,” from which the word
“colonization” is derived, is: a) a body of people living in a new territory
but maintaining ties with their homeland or b) a number of people coming from
the same country, sharing the same ethnic origin or speaking the same language,
who reside in a foreign country or city, or a particular section of it.
Either could apply to the people coming to live in Europe
