The military coup that ousted Egyptian President Mohamed
Morsi marks another failure in U.S. foreign policy over several
administrations, which have erroneously promoted the notion that American-style
democracy in Islamic lands will produce a nation more like ours. The Founders wrote a Constitution. When
properly read and obeyed, it guards against pure democracy and makes "we
the people" subject to laws that cannot be abolished by popular vote.
Benjamin Franklin properly called what the Founders wrought a "Republic."
Representative government would guard against the passions of a majority. No
such safeguards apply in Egypt, or for that matter throughout most of the
Islamic world.
George W. Bush famously said that freedom beats in every
human heart. To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on the meaning of freedom….ToRead More….
My Take – It issue isn’t that the Muslim world isn’t ready for democracy - or
even a democratically elected republic - they are culturally incapable of it! As long as they are Muslims democracy, and the acceptance of open dissent, is
doomed by their religious concepts.
Islam requires absolute obedience and no one is permitted to disagree
within their particular Muslim group or outside Islam living under Muslim
rule. The Koran requires that! So how can you have democracy when no one is
allowed to disagree?
Islamists in the
U.S. scream about multicultural acceptance of Islam here, but in every area of
the world where Islam is in power multiculturalism is not only discouraged, it
is stamped out violently. This business
about ‘radical’ Muslims is a misnomer. Within the Muslim mindset there
are no ‘radical’ Muslims if they are violently performing jihad because everything these ‘radicals’ are doing is completely
in line with what appears in the Koran and the dictates of their founder. That’s what makes
them faithful Muslims. Within Islam
those who don’t perform jihad are the ‘radicals’ because they aren’t faithfully
fulfilling the commands of The Prophet to either convert, enslave, oppress or kill everyone.
The problem is Islam itself….that’s
it! Why is that so hard to understand?
