Listen up, O'Reilly!

Burt Prelutsky
There are only two daily shows I watch on Fox. The first is Bret Baier’s “Special Report.” The other is Bill O’Reilly’s “The Factor.” Because I record everything I watch, I am able to fast forward through the commercials on Baier’s show. When it comes to O’Reilly, I will often fast forward not only through his commercials, but through segments in which Bob Beckel, Leslie Marshall, Alan Colmes, Geraldo Rivera, Juan Williams, Lis Wiehl, Kimberly Guilfoyle and/or Marc Lamont Hill appear. Some nights, I can fly through the entire hour in about eight or nine minutes. In fact, if it weren’t for Bernie Goldberg, Charles Krauthammer, Megyn Kelly, Lou Dobbs and, to a lesser degree, Dennis Miller, I wouldn’t tune in at all.
A while back, I got caught up in watching O’Reilly get fired up over same-sex marriage. One night, he claimed that too many people who opposed them did so for no other reason than their religious beliefs, and he didn’t think that “Bible-thumpers” were in a position to persuade those who disagreed with them. I had to concede his point. After all, if people weren’t religious, it stood to reason that they wouldn’t be swayed by arguments based on gospel….To Read More……
My Take – I thank Burt for confirming my view of O’Reilly.  I find the man unberable.  As you read this article I do hope someone will remember my comments of a few days back:
For years I have said that O'Reilly is a phony, and since to me that has been so obvious for so long, I am surprised that so many are surprised and just now come that realization.   Which should have been obvious to the most casual observer.  O'Reilly is nothing more than an arrogant self promoting egotist with little moral foundation.  I have watched him interview prominent people by whom he was clearly intimidated and as a result presented little intellectual challenge for them.

Alex Baldwin even punked him out by haughtily asking O'Reilly; "Are you instructing me".  O'Reilly then responded by sheepishly saying; "I was a teacher".  So what?  The immediate response that came to me was; "why do you ask, aren't you capable of being instructed".  How much intellect does it take to deal with Baldwin?

I have watched him go on shows where he was outnumbered and absolutely failed intellectually and then threw a temper tantrum.  Should he have been lauded for his willingness to go into such a lion’s den?  Not if he wasn’t intellectually capable of dealing with it.  That was an ego out of control.   Would William F. Buckley have had such problems?  No!  And he wouldn’t have had a temper tantrum either.

One of O’Reilly’s problems is he lies.  Does he lie all the time?  I don't know about that, but he once clearly stated that Obama’s birth wasn’t an issue because he said he had seen Obama’s birth certificate when in point of fact …..no one had!   Why wasn’t he called on that by everyone on Fox?   He brings guests on his show for their opinions and then talks over them.  Why?  O’Reilly is a bully and like most bullies I believe he is also a coward.

I recently had the opportunity to be at an event where Laura Ingraham spoke and one of the things everyone asked, “What is Bill O’Reilly really like?”  Well......Now you know!
