Mikulski’s ‘Paycheck Fairness Act’ Would Allow Employees to Discuss Salaries

January 31, 2013 12:48 PM
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A ‘Paycheck Fairness Act’ introduced in Congress last week would require employers to show pay disparity is related to job-performance and prohibit employer retaliation for sharing salary information with coworkers.
Senator Barbara A. Mikulski and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, both Democrats, said their legislation is aimed at closing the pay gap between men and women and would also address loopholes in the 1963 Equal Pay Act…….. To Read More……
My Take - Dumb as dirt!  Where do they find these loons?  I know that there are a lot of people out there who are too young to remember Mary Rose Oakar, one time Congressional Representative from Ohio District 20.  The same district that kept electing Dennis Kucinich all those years.  And if they hadn't redistricted him forcing him to compete with Mary Kaptur, who won the nomination, even though he was endorsed by no lesser loon than Barney Frank himself, the boy mayor who bankrupted Cleveland would still be in Congress.
At any rate Oakar was a big supporter of what was then called "Comparable Worth" legislation at the time.  What it all boiled down to was a way for activists, who promote all sorts of special legislation for ________ (fill in the blank), allowing them to demand their acolytes in government impose decisions on how much people in '- selected' categories - should be paid, even though they may be working in different fields and jobs...once again..... provided they were in some favored category.    As an example; why shouldn't a secretary, or a janitor, or a social worker be paid as much as a steelworker on high steel building a 30 story building? Can you imagine the mess this would have created?  Clearly, the parameters would have eventually become non-existent! Even her Democratic colleagues called it "loony toon".
This ime it has a different name - and seemingly more acceptable because this clearly isn't as comprehensive as  was "Comparable Worth" - but it's the same kind of corruption in a different suit, which will ultimately  (especially after a few new rights are discovered by federal judges under this law) be expanded to allow people in government who never started a business, never had to meet a payroll, have no clue on how to run a business or even any real understanding how to determine the value of someone's labor are going to tell producers who have done all those things how to do it.  Dumb as dirt!
I do think it is interesting that Fox News has asked Dennis the Menace to be a contributor on their network debuting with Bill O’Reilly.  Loons should stick together.  It would seem that "dumb as dirt" is infectious.
