"Downplaying or remaining silent about climate change was and is a blunder for progressives" says the Warmist site "Climate Progress". A longer excerpt:
"Nearly $200 million was spent by environmental, progressive, and business groups in 2009 and 2010 to sell a climate bill. The vast majority (but not all) of that messaging was built around ignoring the climate message and instead talking about clean energy jobs, energy security, and the threat from China. Worse, the progressive political leadership (again with exceptions, such as Sen. John Kerry) also generally either refused to talk about climate change or they seriously downplayed the subject. That includes, most importantly, President Obama and the entire White House communications team [see "The unbearable lameness of being (Rahm and Axelrod)"].
My Take – Talk about “newspeak”. They spent an obscene amount of money to “sell” global warming to the public and failed because the messengers did a bad job?
They had all the public organs proclaiming this nonsense, the government itself, all the greenies, the weather channel spews it out constantly, the universities, and even the museums (I visited New York City's Natural History Museum this year…ditto) and it failed because they didn’t message it properly?
Baloney! All of these people they are now condemning blathered about this while it seemed to be a winner. The reality is that if it was factual it wouldn't have had to be sold in the first place? It failed to “sell”, and is not a political winner, because the public is aware that its all lies. The internet will not allow nonsense from these entities without a battle from now on. It is unfortunate it didn’t exist before 1962. Tens of millions of lives would have been saved. But that isn't what the greenies want.
Petition for Lions’ Endangered Species Status
In the last three decades wild African lions have declined by nearly fifty percent. Even so, they are not listed in the United States as an endangered species yet. Consequently, there are still some visitors to Africa who go on safari lion hunts and kill them as trophy animals. This antiquated, needless and barbaric practice is further diminishing an African lion population that is already in trouble. The Humane Society has an online petition to have the African lion listed as an endangered species and protected under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. There clearly is no legitimate reason to kill African lions, and their continued slaughter for “sport” is an outrageous waste of life, especially as they are already in such a severe decline.
My Take - It has been years since I saw an African lion running wild in the United States....oh wait....I have never seen an African lion in the United States at all unless they were in a zoo....so why should the U.S. declare the African lion endangered? Because that would prevent them from bringing the trophies home.
Before I go on I do have to say that I don't like hunting for trophies. I have no objection to hunting, killing and eating animals...and even having a trophy of these eaten animals. I also understand the "sporting" aspect to the hunt. It's the waste that I dont' like. I hate to see animals slaughtered and left to rot. It's bad stewardship, and it is just wrong. I put trophy hunting in that same category.
However, I don't live in an area of the world where animals will hunt me down, kill me and eat me and my family. If I did......make no mistake about this......I would want someone to hunt and kill them with no moral qualms against it whatsoever; even if it meant selling it as a trophy hunt.
Nowhere in the article did I see that the lions are actually endangered….they just think it is “outrageous” that they are hunted. They discuss the fact that the lion population has seriously diminished over the years, but maybe the local people like that. Maybe those who actually live in these countries think this saves lives. Maybe those who don’t live there should be quiet and mind their own business. So why are the greenies interfering in the internal affairs of these countries? Because they are irrational and misanthropic.
Malaysia to charge soldiers over Hornbill killing
Five Malaysian soldiers on anti-poaching duty face criminal charges after Facebook pictures appeared of them posing with a dead, endangered Great Pied Hornbill bird. Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the group was part of a force protecting the Royal Belum-Temengor rainforest in the northern state of Perak, when they came across the bird which had been shot by a hunter. "The bird fell to the ground and upon seeing the dying bird, they slaughtered it," he told state media late Sunday. He said the five, including an officer, had been suspended and would be charged under the country's wildlife laws….. Hornbill numbers have declined perilously owing to habitat loss and poaching. Their trade or sale is illegal under the UN's Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
My Take – Is this the reason why greenies in the U.S. want African lions declared endangered? I don’t know the process, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t part of making it a ban enforced by the U.N.
Cruisin’ with The Nation: Why red isn’t the new green
You can’t imagine the thunderous LOL that emanated from my office last Saturday when I opened my copy of the April 11th issue of The Nation. Yes, you read that right — The Nation, that long-time voice of American comrade-ism.
Casually flipping through the pages looking for some environment-related screed with which to have some good ol’ JunkScience.com fun, I came upon a full-page ad for — get this — The Nation‘s 14th Annual Seminar Cruise to the Caribbean (December 11-18, 2011) with stops in Grand Turk, San Juan and St. Maarten. (How did I miss the previous 13 cruises and who knew that you could plot against the free world and enjoy all-you-can-eat steamship round at the same time?!)
My Take – If they really believed all the greenie claptrap they spew out would they be doing this? While encouraging others to;
“Take a “staycation.” Staying at home instead of traveling can be a really inexpensive and relaxing way to enjoy your time off. In fact, it’s probably the “greenest” travel option there is. It will save you money, make less of an environmental impact, and allow you to explore your immediate surroundings.”They are taking these great cruises.....yet it turns out that these cruises they take are the most eco-damaging trips of all.
Charlie Coombs (tongue in cheek) commented that;
“You’ve completely mistaken what’s going on here: These people –environmentalists, government employees, union members — are leaders. They work very hard to put us on the higher road to communigalitarianism, the political and economic philosophy that specifically excludes them from anything that might be called “socialism.”Is it possible there is a slight hint of .......hypocricy in all of this? Say it ain't so Joe. After all, their intentions are good. Aren't they?
