Observations From the Back Row: 4-24-11

“De Omnibus Dubitandum”

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "HEAT TRAPPING GAS".  A gas can become warmer by contact with something warmer or by infrared radiation shining on it or by adiabatic (pressure) effects but it cannot trap anything. Air is a gas. Try trapping something with it!  John J. Ray

U.N.'s Agenda 21 is in your community Anyone who reads Chapter 7 of Agenda 21 and then reads his local comprehensive land-use plan will immediately recognize that most of the provisions of the local land-use plan come directly from Agenda 21. More often than not, the elected officials who adopt these plans have never read Agenda 21, and many have never even heard of the U.N. document, signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1992.

“Fox News of the North” already has far left in a panic  Once upon a time in the Land of the Maple Leaf in a not-so-long ago chapter, Canadians had absolutely zero access to Fox News. These were the days when Canada had been governed for 13 consecutive years by the the oft-described “Natural Governing Party”, the scandal ridden federal Liberals. In other words, during long, despairing days when Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, who blamed 9/11 on Americans and Prime Minister Paul Martin, one time UN Poster Boy Maurice Strong’s employee at Power Corp, were ruling this vast land.

My Take - I always wondered how the greenies managed to impose so many onerous regulations and laws against pesticide use in Canada…..now I know…..
“Canada’s Radio Act requires that a “licenser may not broadcast…any false or misleading news.” The provision has kept Fox News and right-wing talk radio out of Canada and helped make Canada a model for liberal democracy and freedom.”……..as a result of that law, Canadians enjoy high quality news coverage, including the kind of foreign affairs and investigative journalism that flourished in this country before Ronald Reagan abolished the “Fairness Doctrine” in 1987. Political dialogue in Canada is marked by civility, modesty, honesty, collegiality, and idealism that have pretty much disappeared on the U.S. airwaves. When Stephen Harper moved to abolish the anti-lying provision of the Radio Act, Canadians rose up to oppose him fearing that their tradition of honest non-partisan news would be replaced by the toxic, overtly partisan, biased and dishonest news coverage familiar to American citizens who listen to Fox News and talk radio.
Their broadcasts were marked with “civility, modesty, honesty, collegiality, and idealism”. Have I asked this before? Has anyone ever read George Orwell’s Animal Farm

Click here to read it online. And does the word “newspeak” mean anything to anyone? If it doesn’t, it should.... and this link needs to be followed.

Progressive Media and the War on the Unborn……….In New Zealand, which also has socialized medicine, the situation is even more dire, as the government promotes the screening and killing of unborn children diagnosed with Down syndrome. As I noted in a previous column, "The new government policy in New Zealand was preceded by the completion of a report on the `cost effectiveness' of aborting Down syndrome babies. It was determined that it was just too expensive to allow these babies to live."

My Take - Is this a green issue? No, this is a result of accepting “green’. What? I’m I out of my mind? No, I am not! The reality is that ‘green’ is the spear point of a socialist philosophy that wishes to subjugate mankind to the will of an elite who believe that government is the ultimate moral authority in the universe; with them in charge. It isn’t the environment they are concerned with. That is the emotional hook! They desire to alter how people live their lives….and how many will be living, and in what conditions. Once everyone accepts all the impositions the green movement wants to institute these will be followed by the secondary impositions. This will be one such imposition. And it won’t stop there! History is replete with what happens to humanity when despots and tyrants rule. And it ain’t pretty!

Poverty, misery, disease, death and squalor have followed these types all through history, and in spite of everything Hollywood celebrities or the main stream media say about Castro….it is the same in Cuba under Castro.

Very often resource availability is used to explain the poverty and wealth of nations. Why is it then that continents such as Africa and South America, where resources are abundant, “are home to some of the world’s most miserably poor people?” Yet places such as Japan, Hong Kong, and Great Britain, which are seriously resource poor, “rank among the world’s richest places.”

“There is very little either complicated or interesting about poverty.” Please read the rest of this article. Dystopia follows Green like a dirt cloud follows Pigpen.

Blame Game Has the green movement been a miserable flop?  Nisbet, for his part, seems to favor the third camp, those in support of the “we need bold new ideas” theory. He certainly doesn’t believe greens were woefully outmatched by powerful fossil-fuel interests. In his report, Nisbet estimates that green groups and their allies spent $394 million on climate-change activities in 2009—ads, organizing, lobbying—compared with just $259 million from conservative and industry groups. Nor does he think media-assisted denialism was a decisive factor. His research found that the biggest news outlets—The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Politico—tended to reflect mainstream climate science in their coverage. The implication, then, is that environmentalists have no one to blame but themselves for failing to sell their climate policies.

My Take - This article is worth reading because it clearly shows a group of people who have a mindset of never being wrong….just ask them. Nowhere in this article does anyone acknowledge that global warming was based on lies. That is what was wrong, not the strategy they used, or who got elected or anything else they discuss. Cap and trade failed because it was an expensive and economically devastating fix to a non-problem. It also exposed who and what the greenies really are. Irrational misanthropes, and that isn’t going to change. Everyone else is to blame….not their views or their “science”, no matter how tainted. The goal of the green movement is to get the “truth” out and they don’t care how many lies they have to tell to do it! Are they a miserable flop? No, they are just miserable.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax -
Of cabbages and kings,
And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings."

  1. Your mention of the Sun News Network in Canada is quite welcome, but Western Canadians did have a truly superior conservative news magazine with a strong Christian element for a number of years. Starting out as The Edmonton Report it morphed into other editions such as The Western Report and The Alberta Report. Published almost singlehanded by Ted Byfield and his family, it eked out a precarious existence for a several years before it was finally done in by high postage rates. Arguably, we would not now have a Conservative government in Canada today without the influence of this magazine. I really miss it. Many of its alumni went on to raise the bar of journalistic standards in other Canadian news outlets, including The National Post, McLean's Magazine and the new network.
