Do They Really Want Masks? Or is It Just Another Masquerade?

Seattle encourages people to wear masks.  That insanity worked so well in the 2020 “scamdemic,” that some progressives want an encore. If they try hard enough, maybe a lockdown, too.

In Seattle, Washington, Dr. Eric Chow, King County’s chief of communicable diseases, is encouraging people to take preventative measures, including wearing masks, as COVID cases increase. Of course, it depends on what your definition of increase is … is. For the week ending April 27, only ½ of 1 percent (0.5%) of hospital emergency room visits involved a COVID diagnosis. 

As of the week ending June 15, COVID patients made up about 1.5 percent of hospital emergency visits. Washingtonians are ignoring the vaccine, which likely means they will ignore any suggestion to wear a mask. 

Statewide, only 19 percent are current with their COVID vaccinations. Should they expect a knock at their door?

New York gov. wants masks in subways, yet since 1845, New York State had a ban against wearing masks. Obviously, that was to prevent the Ku Klux Klan (or like-minded organizations) from causing mayhem against minorities. 

Then came COVID and that ban was lifted so the state could mandate masks. With all the violence in New York, specifically by pro-Hamas thugs in New York City, Gov. Kathy Hochul has suggested putting the mask ban back in place. 

There would be “common-sense exemptions.” Someone wearing a keffiyeh and carrying a sign celebrating the October 7 massacre in Israel might still claim they have a medical reason for a face covering. 

Let’s wait and see if this mask ban happens since leftist groups like the ACLU will probably want to protect the rights of Hamas terrorists.

Has the Sleeping Giant Finally Awakened?

On May 8, 2024 Jamie Glazov published this piece, The Real Reason Pro-Hamas Protesters Wear Masks, at American Thinker, saying:

As pro-Hamas protests sweep U.S. campuses across our nation, a curious phenomenon has surfaced: a large number of the protesters are wearing not only the keffiyeh, but also the COVID mask.  Why is this, exactly?................

Some of the mask-wearers themselves maintain that they are trying to “stay safe” — in what they believe is the ongoing COVID “pandemic.”  Other observers have postulated, however, that this is an effort by the protesters to hide their identity  There are possible elements of truth in both of these reasons, but beneath these layers, something much deeper is going on — and it involves a powerful impulse that serves as the foundation of leftist utopianism itself. 

He went on to explain why there's a deeper understanding, and I gotta tell ya, this was really interesting.    The left consistently destroys cultures with violence, threats, control of the economy and destruction of the individual, with uniformity via coercion and threats in order to attain absolute control and create a whole new culture.  Because culture is king.

One reader commented: "The simplest explanation is usually the best. These kids are too stupid and brainwashed to know about the history that might be behind the face diapers."  Another reader called this piece, " A master class; would that it be allowed to be taught."  To which I agreed.   However, the comment I liked best was this one by Edward D Holman saying:

Or, it could merely be Occam's Razor in play. The asymmetrical warfare arm of the Left merely recognizes that what was once was an ally may turn on them if they lose control of the Executive Branch.

We now have a massive internal security apparatus that carries out a large number of intelligence missions every day on targeted groups. Facial recognition, undercover operators, and all manner of communication (including this platform) are collected under the guise of a homegrown terror threat. You know the ones. The real existential threats to democracy. That's us, folks.

Is this cross-agency effort being redirected at these 'mostly peaceful' campus protestors? One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist. From this population may spring future acts of terror if this heats up. Are they being surveilled? Catalogued? Interviewed? Are they in contact with, or being supported by, foreign state and non-state actors who are hostile to the U.S.?

And is this Leviathan a supporter of the Left or is it merely alive and has a will to exist, for the good of the country, of course? Are the current Ideologues presently in charge of the government merely useful idiots to 'The Blob'? The lesser of two evils? Nitwits to be either ignored or placated while the security of the country is in the hands of the true patriots? The un-elected bureaucratic state.

I suppose we will find out. It looks like Trump may win. If so, the Left's military arm has decided to don masks just in case. They may the target of these domestic intelligence operations in the name of internal security. They would certainly fit the definition of an existential threat to democracy, if for no other reason than to placate the new regime, and provide the reason why the Patriot Act should be sustained.

Along with their existence. Remember. The State is cold-blooded and their motives are transactional.

I've cited Napoleon in the past saying never interfere with an enemy when he's making a mistake, and the left has now crossed the Rubicon, and their mistakes are compounding.   Their insanity is so obvious no one except nitwits in Hollywood and academia believe anything they say any longer.  

Well, this destruction of a culture can work both ways.  On May 09, 2024 Kurt Schlichter published this piece, Let Them Destroy Each Other, at Townhall.com saying:

Contrary to popular conservative opinion, I don’t want this college chaos to end anytime soon. I want it to increase and metastasize and continue right up until these entitled, ugly, mutated communist jerks totally alienate every normal American. It’s already happening. The frat boys have turned. The normals are turning. At one of these colleges, you had the theater major graduation ceremony invaded by Palesimpians and the parents began chanting, “USA! USA!” Will this and the administrations’ feeble response help flush these institutions’ bloated reputations down the crapper? Yes, please! So, keep it up, communist dipwads. I’m loving this.

 

Schlichter wants to see our current academic culture destroyed calling it "an abscess on the buttocks of American society", and observes these "elite" universities are filled with academic "jokes", many of whom are being exposed as plagiarists, and what about hiring the students they're turning out?"  He goes on to say:

A lot of these diversity [students] can’t cut it and have no skill set other than endlessly complaining about how they are oppressed. The fact a lot of them want to murder all the Jews is likewise troubling. These gibbering halfwits aren’t the leaders of the future. They’re morons. They’re stupid, and they’re boring...........who wants to hire one of these Harvard idiots? All you will get is internal strife, excuses for shoddy work, endless demands, and probably a lawsuit..........

After all, at some point, law firms, Wall Street, and giant corporations have to succeed at what they do. They’ve got a bottom line to consider, and somebody who demands every Friday off for mental health just isn’t going to cut it. But that’s what these entitled twits will do. They will try to bring their college nonsense into the real world. So far, the real world has accommodated them somewhat – HR departments are full of these idiots – but at some point, the people who actually want to succeed at their enterprise are going to have to hire people who can make them successful.

Winston Churchill once stated "Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else."  And there's a lot of truth in that because America is fundamentally different than the rest of the world.  Our culture was built from the bottom up, and is a culture foundationally based on freedom, and individual rights, and leftist use those values against us.  It took a bit of time for everyone to become aware of what they're really attempting to achieve, but it's now blatantly obvious.  

They desire to destroy the American identity, the American culture, the American economy, and most importantly, demean and undermine the Constitution in order to destroy it in order to create a new tyrannous misanthropic culture of obedient servitude to the state.

For those who've read history books, they knew this for decades, and wrote about this for decades.  But, they were pretty much ignored by America.  Why?  Because academia, the media, and left leaning politicians on both sides of the aisle were pretty much in control directing our culture, and Americans are pretty much a live and let live people.    

But now, finally, all these riots, antisemitic protests, corruption involving their lawfare two tier justice system, voter fraud, spending, borrowing, and deep state crimes have made their true goals clear as a bell, and now perhaps, just perhaps, America, the sleeping giant, has awoken, because now we're witnessing "a nationwide tutorial on how to turn disinterested, pleasure-seeking youths into rabid Trump supporters."

Imagine that!

Hollow the Science

Editor's Note:  I've not asked for, nor have I received permission to publish this in full.  However, I think this article needs a wide a distribution as possible.  If the author or American Thinker object, I will break it down to a link.  Since I was one of the ones who was criticized because I took this position regarding masks, social distancing, lock downs, and vaccines from the very beginning, which was the contrarian view at the time, I particularly like this piece.  The health, and mortality consequences of all this is going to be with humanity for decades.  This is our thalidomide era, only far worse and far longer.  RK

 Science today is no different than any other subject area. It’s no longer about research; it’s all about narrative and agenda.  “Follow the Science” is really “Hollow the Science” until all that remains is the accepted, usually leftist narrative, and those who question it even with solid arguments must be neutralized. 

Consider climate change.  The Earth & Environmental Sciences Area (EESA) at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab is huge, with the Climate Sciences Department alone with over 100 scientists.  Joe Biden has just committed $575 million for the Climate Resilience Regional Challenge (which I’ll abbreviate as CRoC).  Do you honestly think those receiving federal funding to investigate climate change are the most impartial voices on the matter?  

As reported in an Epoch Times article perhaps too optimistically titled “Era of ‘Unquestioned and Unchallenged’ Climate Change Claims is Over,” after scientists published a credible article in a journal refuting some climate change gospel, rather than publish their own paper contesting the claims, a senior opinion editor at Scientific American and the director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies went on a smear campaign, including attempting to discredit the authors and the journal editor by demanding their emails under FOIA.  The article claims that numerous scientists speaking out about the suppressive efforts were afraid to be quoted by name.  Here’s one who wasn’t (funny how often they are “emeritus”):

William Happer, Princeton professor emeritus of physics and former climate adviser to President Donald Trump, wasn't surprised by the response to the new findings.

“Of course the climate cult will be dismissive of any information -- no matter how scientifically correct -- that is politically incorrect," he told The Epoch Times, noting that the new findings made important and valid points.

Consider the CDC’s “COVID science.”  The CDC advocated for lockdowns despite the knowledge that they are ineffective and counterproductive.  It allowed Randi Weingarten and the teacher’s union to dictate its school-opening policy.  It has been making false and misleading statements about COVID-19 vaccines and myocarditis.  Worst of all has been its behavior on masks.  From day one, the CDC chucked its own coronavirus handbook based on decades of research which stated masks are ineffective and not recommended for coronaviruses; you were not allowed to ask why.  The CDC then very unprofessionally defended its pro-mask stance by grasping at a report about the experience of two hairdressers, all while ignoring high-quality randomized studies with large sample size, like the Danish study, finding masks ineffective.  

The CDC continues to defend its stance even after the definitive Cochrane meta-study conducted by prestigious authors came out saying all masks for corona and respiratory viruses are pretty much useless.  (The CDC director in congressional testimony actually had the gall to belittle high-quality randomized studies as inferior.  We’re talking the director of the CDC with a PhD in a related field.)  Unfortunately, the editor of the journal in which the Cochrane meta-study appeared folded under perceived pressure from a New York Times inquiry into the meta-study results and watered down her conclusion of the meta-study, permanently besmirching her own reputation.  (The fact that she felt she had to do this is chilling.)  

The CDC hasn’t stopped there.  You may recognize the names Vinay Prasad and Mary Beth Høeg, epidemiologists from UCSF not afraid to speak out when they uncover excessive claims and faulty reasoning by the CDC.  They just published a pre-proofed journal article on the CDC’s reliance on mask articles.  As reported on October 6 by the Epoch Times:

One of the most influential federal health journals in the United States has published unsupported claims about the benefits of masks in preventing transmission of COVID-19, according to authors of a manuscript recently accepted for publication in The American Journal of Medicine.

The claims come from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), which has a powerfully persuasive effect on public health decision-making. How the studies published in the MMWR advance scientific understanding "remain largely opaque to the general public," the authors wrote in the pre-proofed paper. For this reason, the authors expressed, it is essential to dig into how agency conclusions -- and subsequent recommendations that affect citizens across the globe -- are made.

<font-size: 14px;"="">…researchers discovered questionable qualities in most of the studies -- qualities that could easily misrepresent results and confuse readers such as health care professionals, researchers, and the public. These qualities included poor study design, scarcity of statistical significance, dubious methods for assessing mask effectiveness, failure to cite conflicting data, and lack of randomization.

In other words, mostly low-quality studies often making dubious claims were published in the MMWR, and nevertheless these were used to steer CDC mask policy.  In case you can’t gain access to the full journal article, here are some excerpts:

In Figure 1, we show a total of 23/77 (29.9%) identified studies that assessed the effectiveness of masks, however, 58/77 (75.3%) stated masks were effective. Of these 58 studies, 41/58 (70.7%) used causal language and 40/58 (69.0%) used causal language inappropriately. One mannequin study allowed causal inference. 11/77 (14.3%) found a statistically significant inverse relationship between masking and cases. No studies (0/77; 0%) were randomized. 4/77 (5.2%) had a numerically higher number of cases in the mask group than the comparator group but all 4/4 (100%) concluded masks were effective. Of all publications included, 0/77 (0.0%) cited a randomized study or review of only randomized studies. Of all 58 studies stating masks were effective, only 1/58 (1.7%), which mainly focused on influenza mentioned conflicting data on mask effectiveness…

We found that, among the 77 studies identified pertaining to masks published in MMWR, 30% tested the effectiveness of masks, with 14% having statistically significant results, yet over 75% of all 77 studies concluded masks were effective. Of the 5% that reported higher case rates in the masked group than the comparator group, all concluded masks were effective. MMWR studies consistently drawing conclusions about mask effectiveness without supporting evidence is particularly problematic and difficult to justify considering the totality of randomized evidence about the use of surgical or N95 masks to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses has been negative.…

One Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Viewpoint described how, starting September 11, 2020, political appointees may have “demanded the ability to review and revise scientific reports” in MMWR, and concern was raised about “political appointees trying to influence the scientific process.”

Remember when Anthony Fauci first said masks don’t work, then said they do, and claimed he told a white lie the first time so that masks would be available for health care workers?  Well, I never bought that.  What I believe is that the first time he told the truth, and the second time he switched to the advancing mask narrative intended to scare us into lockdowns, distancing, and vaccines.

In post-plague or post-zombie outbreak end-of-the-world movies, survivors always say they’re going to attempt a dangerous trek on foot to the CDC in Atlanta hundreds of miles away, because if anyone found a cure, it would be the CDC.  How many feel that way now?

The real reason the government panned ivermectin - September 7, 2023 By Maker S. Mark - During COVID, there were allegedly no treatments available, according to the FDA and CDC.  Even through a number of front-line doctors were having success with ivermectin and HCQ, the CDC and FDA put real barriers in place for working doctors to utilize those treatments.  Many doctors were threatened with losing their license if they continued to treat patients, and some doctors were fired.  As the dust has begun to settle, there is a legal issue that might explain the lack of curiosity about a potential cheap treatment for COVID.  If there had been a treatment for COVID, then the Emergency Use Authorization could not be used for the vaccine.  Explained here very well, "Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is a mechanism used by the FDA to facilitate making products available quickly during a public health emergency, when there is no other adequate and approved medical product available."...

 

The COVID-19 Iron Curtain - By Wendy V. Ottawa Shows What Happens When Cities Bow to Climate Alarmism - by Tom Harris  May 3, 2023 - Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, is on the verge of a self-induced crisis. This predicament is being brought on by an obsession with “stopping climate change,” prioritizing it over real-world environmental, health, economic, and energy supply concerns. January 6 Doesn't Shine a Candle to COVID

Why the Left Is Pro-Mask

Understand the Left's support for mask-wearing and you will understand the Left.

The world’s most trusted evaluator of medical studies, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, has just released as close to a conclusive report on the effectiveness of masks against respiratory viruses such as COVID-19 as we are likely to have for the foreseeable future. The report assessed data from 78 different studies, including 11 new randomized controlled trials involving 610,872 participants.

Cochrane concluded, in the words of one of the authors, Dr. Tom Jefferson of Oxford University, “There is just no evidence that they (masks) make any difference. Full stop.”

Among the reasons for that assessment was Cochrane’s conclusion that states and countries with mask mandates fared no better than states and countries without.

Moreover, Dr. Jefferson’s conclusions were not limited to cloth and surgical masks. Regarding N95 masks, Jefferson said the same thing: “Makes no difference—none of it.”

As for the early COVID-19 studies that policymakers cited to justify mandates for mask wearing, Jefferson said: “They were convinced by nonrandomized studies, flawed observational studies.”

For example, PolitiFact, one of the so-called “fact-checkers” whose primary function is to declare whatever differs from the Left as “false,” declared in 2021 that studies “have consistently found that mask mandates cause sharp declines in coronavirus case rates.”

Bret Stephens, one of the two or three non-Left columnists at the New York Times, wrote this about the Cochrane study: 

“Mask mandates were a bust. Those skeptics who were furiously mocked as cranks and occasionally censored as ‘misinformers’ for opposing mandates were right. The mainstream experts and pundits who supported mandates were wrong. In a better world, it would behoove the latter group to acknowledge their error, along with its considerable physical, psychological, pedagogical and political costs.”

Stephens’ description of those who differed with the Left and the “experts” on universal mask-wearing as having been “furiously mocked as cranks and occasionally censored as ‘misinformers'” is, of course, entirely accurate.

We were right, but the Left controlled all the tech giants—and except for Twitter, they still do. They, not we, were the ones who spread misinformation about masks—and about lockdowns, the origins of COVID-19, the claim that there was no early treatment for COVID-19 (just wait for the vaccines and hope you don’t die in the meantime), Trump campaign collusion with Russia, the Hunter Biden laptop and every other issue that divides Left from Right.

Even now, after the Cochrane report, the Left continues to push for mask-wearing.

There were more than 3,000 comments on Bret Stephens’ column in the New York Times. Every single one of the most popular comments said the Cochrane report was flawed. I did not read all 3,000-plus comments, but I could not find one that agreed with Stephens or Cochrane. Note that in order to comment on a New York Times article, one must be a New York Times subscriber. These people are as representative of the American Left as any group could be.

And the Washington Post Editorial Board just published a lead editorial, “In a crowded place, a face mask or respirator keeps the virus away,” taking issue with the Cochrane review.

The people who boast that they—unlike the Right—only “follow the science” are lying to themselves, to us, or to both. Leftists have no interest in “the science” when it conflicts with any position they hold. Science said schools should be kept open, that closing them would do great damage to many young people. Yet, with a few exceptions such as Sweden, the Left clamored for, and where in power, closed schools. Science tells us that COVID-19 vaccines are not helpful—and even potentially injurious—to young people (Denmark strongly discourages any healthy person under 50 from getting a COVID-19 vaccine). Yet until this year, nearly every American university forced students to get vaccinated, and many still do.

So why, even despite the science, does the Left insist on wearing—and forcing others to wear—masks?

I will offer four reasons.

One reason is that the further Left one goes, the more fear governs an individual’s life.

This is true because the more one is governed by fear, the more one is likely to take left-wing positions. And it is true because left-wing positions inculcate fear. In other words, the frightened gravitate to the Left, and the Left makes people frightened.

The second reason the Left still insists on mask wearing is that leftists don’t ask the question, “At what price?” In fact, the moment one asks that question, one becomes a conservative.

The price paid for mask wearing is huge. Not seeing people’s faces has a negative impact on human relations. People whose face cannot be seen are less human—isn’t that why people who oppose the Muslim veil oppose it? Doesn’t the veil dehumanize the woman whose face disappears behind it? What is the effective difference between the veil and the mask? There is none. And what about children who don’t see faces outside of their house? What about patients who don’t see the faces of nurses and doctors? The nursing home residents who can’t see the smiles and hear the unmuffled speech of their caregivers? The harm done is huge.

A third reason for left-wing support for masks is that leftists read, listen to, and watch left-wing media only. Thus, they were completely ignorant of all that we who opposed masks knew thanks to the fact that we also consume non-Left media.

A fourth reason the Left insists on forcing others to wear masks is that controlling others’ lives is in the Left’s raison d’etre. Controlling others is what leftism is all about. That is why the Left seeks ever-expanding government. There is no such thing as increasing the size of government but not increasing the amount of government control over people’s lives. By definition, more government means more control over people’s lives. There is no example of the Left gaining power anywhere in the world and at any time since the Left took over Russia in 1917 and not restricting the freedom of its citizens.

Understand the Left’s support for mask-wearing and you will understand the Left.

BLM Rioters Get $6M Because Cops Didn’t Wear Face Masks

The Black Lives Matter race riots in New York City were among the worst in the country. Racist mobs injured hundreds of police officers, started fires, looted stores and vandalized parks and statues. At least 450 businesses, many of them small and family owned, were damaged or looted by the rioters who claimed to be angry over the drug overdose death of George Floyd: a vicious career criminal who had previously robbed a woman by putting a gun to her stomach. 

 While Black Lives Matter was swimming in hundreds of millions of dollars, funneled to it by radical nonprofits, major corporations and Hollywood celebrities, family businesses in New York City looted by those rioters were offered a maximum of $10,000 to rebuild their shattered lives.

One small business owner in the Bronx complained that it would hardly even begin to cover the $200,000 in damages to her store after rioters “smashed glass display cases and medical equipment”. But participants in an extremist group’s Bronx protest are getting a much better deal. New York City will be paying $21,500 to each of the “protesters” in the Bronx for a total of as much as $6 million. And none of that money will be going to the looted businesses.

This has been described as the largest payout for mass arrests in American history.

The BLM riot era class action lawsuit claimed, among other things that the, “police officers responding to protests frequently failed to wear masks or to assist detained protesters in covering their noses and mouths, and on occasion even forcibly removed protesters’ masks, exposing protesters to a heightened risk of contracting COVID-19.”

Family businesses lost everything and cops and civilians were badly wounded during the BLM riots, but the police officers didn’t always wear masks when trying to control those riots.

Mott Haven, the Bronx neighborhood where the protest took place, was described as “mostly black and brown” and the police intervention as “racist terror.” Mott Haven is actually mostly Hispanic and while the lead plaintiff in the case is black, most of the protesters on video appear to be white hipsters wearing glasses. After the protest was controlled by the police, local business owners sent a message thanking the NYPD for protecting their livelihoods.

The media and leftist lawfare activists claimed that the Bronx protest was “peaceful and non-violent”. In reality, it was organized by a group known as FTP which stands for ‘F__ the Police” and was promoted with a flier featuring a burning police car.

Afterward a press release was put out describing how “the FTP formation launched #FTP4, the fourth in a series of militant actions exposing the every day brutality of the U.S. police state” and boasted that they “had to risk direct confrontation with the most powerful police state in the world to earn recognition of the human rights violations done by the U.S.”

This was as good as an admission that they had set out to provoke a confrontation with the police so as to be able to claim that they were the victims of police brutality.

Furthermore the press release stated that “we denounce any attempt to divide us from protestors who are non-peaceful or who liberate the ill gotten gains and excesses of capitalism.”

This was an endorsement and a defense of BLM rioting and looting.

A previous FTP manual contained not only an image of a burning police car, something BLM rioters repeatedly did, but included a section on “How to Shut Down a City” with a list of items like “Bolt Cutters”, “Bricks”, “Fire”, “Glass Bottles” and “Nails”. It urged “Sabotage Everywhere”.

But the police didn’t wear masks so these very fine people, who may have possibly been exposed to COVID while they were fighting police, get millions while the people whose lives have been ruined get a few thousand or nothing. That’s what a leftist justice system looks like.

None of the media coverage mentions anything about FTP, what it stands for or its manual and its defense of violence and looting. As was its habit during the BLM riots, it describes them in generic terms as “protesters” and the events as “racial justice protests”. These lies by omission have continued for years after the riots devastated communities and claimed so many lives.

FTP’s actions were linked to Decolonize This Place, a movement co-founded by Muslim NYU Professor Amin Husain. A previous FTP event, FTP III, had tried to shut down subways, engaged in vandalism, staged confrontations and used a manual promoting sabotage. The NYPD’s overwhelming response to FTP4 becomes much more understandable within that context. It’s a context that the media carefully fails to provide in its news coverage.

Amin Husain has declared, “I’m fighting for Palestine by fighting here.” He spread images promoting Hamas and the PFLP terrorist group and boasted of having fought in Israel, “I was throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, the like.” Decolonize This Place had tweeted, “Find targets nearby, Find where these zionist fools live, and where there offices are, and act!”

“Nothing says “peaceful and nonviolent” like calling for an antisemitic purge of Jews.

But not all of the NYPD officers wore face masks while grappling with members of what looks a lot like a terrorist group with foreign enemy links. And so food will be taken out of the mouths of hungry children and millions will be reappropriated to the leftists who waged war on New York.

And the looted businesses will be on the hook to provide that money to their destroyers.

New York never fails to amuse me.  We are all familiar with Saturday Night Live, an NBC production that, in its early years and with its original stellar cast, was the comedic highlight of the week as it came to us "live from New York."  Even if its laugh-provoking talent has diminished since the days of John Belushi and Gilda Radner, it can still produce at least an occasional chuckle from this fossilized cynic.  Additionally, the comedy routines of the Cuomo brothers, much like the brothers Marx, have me in stitches when I view them. But lately, both the city and state of New York have outdone themselves in providing smiles for citizens outside their borders.

It is widely believed and statistically demonstrated that New Yorkers live in a generous welfare state.  Full benefits in New York can garner a welfare recipient the pre-tax amount of $43,700 annually, or an hourly rate of $21.01.  At the same time, a Floridian in similar circumstances would receive $12,600, or $6.06 per hour.  If you think that benefits in the sums available to New Yorkers are not a disincentive to being employed, you are delusional.  ...........

My Take - While I applaud this view, I take exception to calling Trump thin skinned.  Yes he attacks anyone....everyone.... who attacks him, but why is that being thin skinned versus being combative in his own defense?  Are we to assume Bush was thick skinned because he allowed these misfits to smear and ridicule him while saying nothing in his defense?   Why would that be thick skinned but versus cowering?

Two years ago when the news of COVID engulfed the nation we all donned whatever masky device we could rig and ventured forth to stock up on toilet paper. We heard, to our dismay, that some jobs were essential and some weren’t, but we bought into that. It all seemed otherworldly, 1984-ish, and scary. Then, after just a few weeks, the news of Hydroxychlorquine and Ivermectin started to surface and the crisis seemed manageable. Whew! I thought. Thank you, God, for providing such a timely discovery; we’ll be able to dodge this bullet. I had failed to realize what bullet was racing toward us.

For, despite evident cures, the lockdowns continued. The masks -- soon shown to be useless -- not only stayed on our faces, but became religious icons, virtue-signaling devices. We stopped striking up conversations with strangers. Our kids sat, hour after hour, day after day, in front of computer screens that presented to them the bare minimum of an education -- if that. We quit going to the movies. ”Out to eat” became just that -- out in the cold on make-shift patios. No parties. No church. No jobs........ 

• Fauci kept adding layers to our masks, which we knew didn’t work, and he still kept his job.

New research shows the risks from prolonged use of face masks

 There’s an old story about a guy who jumped into a thorn bush: He wanted to collect berries, but he failed to consider the adverse effects of the plan. Something similar happened with face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic: Masks were promoted, and often mandated, as necessary safeguards for reducing the chance of infection, while their possible adverse effects were brushed aside. While the science on the benefits of masking is still inconclusive, the latest research now shows that the prolonged use of face masks—especially those with tighter fits like the N95s—could harm wearers by exposing them to dangerously high levels of carbon dioxide.

The risks appear to be especially pronounced for young people. As part of a team of scientists, one of the authors of this article conducted a randomized study of the effects of masking on healthy school aged children in Germany. The results of this research, published in September 2022 in the peer reviewed journal Environmental Research, concluded that wearing masks raised the carbon dioxide (CO₂) “content in inhaled air quickly to a very high level in healthy children in a seated resting position that might be hazardous to children’s health.”

These results should not have come as a surprise. It has long been suspected that mask-wearing poses risks. In Germany, for instance, workers required to wear an N95/FFP2 respirator must get a certificate verifying their ability to do so, and even with said certificate, those workers are mandated to take a 30-minute break every 90 minutes. .........To Read More...

I don't want to go crazy here, but the federal, state, and local governments are driving me off the edge.  My county instituted another stupid mask mandate — a useless, counterproductive exercise, which is being very, very unevenly enforced, I have to say.  In Alameda County, Berkeley has its own health department, which didn't go along.  You can go to the Berkeley Whole Foods without a mask, while Oakland requires them.  So, so stupid!  Here's a more detailed explanation of how much harm masking does.  The only reason for making anyone put on a mask is to control him and marginalize his liberty.

What prompted this mandate?  Who knows?  "Cases" are reported to be up.  Yeah, but what about hospitalizations and deaths?  The national COVID tracker database is gone.  First, they stopped recording numbers, so every state and county graph simply flatlined.  Then the site disappeared altogether.  Tell me why, please!  It's always been the one reliable source of information.  Did they stop so we'd be in the dark while they pushed for more restrictions?

If I hear another person say, "I'm up to date on my shots, but I just got COVID," I will scream.  They all say the same thing, and it's always BS: "At least I was vaccinated, so it wasn't so bad."  Look at the facts, people — if you can find them still!  I had to put a link for stats in England, not the USA.

The people getting COVID are all vaccinated.  The vaccinated are also the ones getting serious illnesses.  Countries that never got on the jab bandwagon are done with COVID and have been for a year or even more.......To Read More.

NYT: Let's face it, the mask mandates don't work

Do masks prevent transmission of COVID-19? Yes, reports the New York Times’ David Leonhardt — in the laboratory. In the real world, no data definitively establishes effectiveness of masking, and especially of mask mandates. The difference matters, Leonhardt warns,  because upticks in transmission and hospitalization will likely have policymakers reverting back to mask mandates even though there is no data that shows an impact on either:

Masks reduce the spread of the Covid virus by preventing virus particles from traveling from one person’s nose or mouth into the air and infecting another person. Laboratory studies have repeatedly demonstrated the effect.

Given this, you would think that communities where mask-wearing has been more common would have had many fewer Covid infections. But that hasn’t been the case.

In U.S. cities where mask use has been more common, Covid has spread at a similar rate as in mask-resistant cities. Mask mandates in schools also seem to have done little to reduce the spread. Hong Kong, despite almost universal mask-wearing, recently endured one of the world’s worst Covid outbreaks.

Advocates of mandates sometimes argue that they do have a big effect even if it is not evident in population-wide data, because of how many other factors are at play. But this argument seems unpersuasive.

Not only is the argument unpersuasive, it argues against clearly demonstrated effects from other strategies. Most notably, vaccination rates have a clear and consistent impact on deaths and severely acute cases, a trend which started obviously when vaccines became widely available. But even after the majority of the population had been vaccinated — and more exposed — mask mandates didn’t show any significant impact:

After all, the effect of vaccines on severe illness is blazingly obvious in the geographic data: Places with higher vaccination rates have suffered many fewer Covid deaths. The patterns are clear even though the world is a messy place, with many factors other than vaccines influencing Covid death rates.

Yet when you look at the data on mask-wearing — both before vaccines were available and after, as well as both in the U.S. and abroad — you struggle to see any patterns.

Even the idea that hospitalizations are ticking up is somewhat suspect. The CDC still does not distinguish between COVID-correlated admissions and deaths and COVID-caused admissions and deaths. Four months ago, the CDC belatedly announced an effort to refine reporting systems to distinguish between the two, but they still lump both together. The Latest Mask Research Is Bad News For Branch Covidians - Scott Morefield, June 13, 2022- Unless you’re visiting a medical facility still taken in by the mask-cult or you live in a big city or some obscure California county run by hypochondriac Democrat whack-jobs, you’re probably generally living your life without being forced to wear a useless, bacteria-laden piece of t-shirt material over your face. However, if your overlords have gone out of their way to clarify that mask mandates have only been lifted because Covid rates have gone down or even that recent iterations of the virus have become less deadly, they are purposefully missing the overall picture and slyly holding on to the pretext that will invite the insanity back at any point - that masks “work” to stop or curb the spread of highly contagious respiratory viruses.

They don’t, obviously, but their rigid belief system is not surprising. Belief in the power and efficacy of face masks has become a de facto religion to these cultist nutjobs, and they’re just itching for the next opportunity to impose their ‘faith’ on the rest of us. If you think I’m exaggerating, consider that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) just recommended masking while traveling again based on the spread of … monkeypox. Mask Mandates Return to College Campuses Where Students Have a Greater Chance of Dying from Opioid Overdose, Suicide or a Fall

Mask mandates are returning to college campuses. Healthy college-age Americans have next to zero chance of dying from COVID. It just doesn’t happen.

 And, scientific studies show masking was mostly worthless.  A recent Oxford study found that a 25-year-old man had a 0.00 percent chance of dying from COVID. Two years ago when the news of COVID engulfed the nation we all donned whatever masky device we could rig and ventured forth to stock up on toilet paper. We heard, to our dismay, that some jobs were essential and some weren’t, but we bought into that. It all seemed otherworldly, 1984-ish, and scary. Then, after just a few weeks, the news of Hydroxychlorquine and Ivermectin started to surface and the crisis seemed manageable. Whew! I thought. Thank you, God, for providing such a timely discovery; we’ll be able to dodge this bullet. I had failed to realize what bullet was racing toward us.

For, despite evident cures, the lockdowns continued. The masks -- soon shown to be useless -- not only stayed on our faces, but became religious icons, virtue-signaling devices. We stopped striking up conversations with strangers. Our kids sat, hour after hour, day after day, in front of computer screens that presented to them the bare minimum of an education -- if that. We quit going to the movies. ”Out to eat” became just that -- out in the cold on make-shift patios. No parties. No church. No jobs........ 

• Fauci kept adding layers to our masks, which we knew didn’t work, and he still kept his job. 
• He’s still pushing both masks and the vaccines, neither do much good, both do a lot of harm, and still he keeps his job. 

 He should, by rights, not only be fired but be locked up somewhere ugly. But we do nothing.  We hear rumors of powerful people advocating for “depopulation,” a clinical, mechanical, hidey-word for killing folks in huge numbers.  Yet, we don’t resist.............To Read More....
