Not a joke: Fortune names David Hogg and cohorts the world's greatest leaders of 2018

It has a whiff of classic fake news: David Hogg and all his foul-mouthed little high school buddies who made headlines and raked cash from their calls for gun control in the wake of the Parkland shooting have been elevated to the number-one spot in Fortune magazine's annual list of the World's 50 Greatest Leaders. Little David Hogg's fifteen minutes of fame seem to be pretty much over.  Sure, he is still a very loud and foul-mouthed little boy and active on social media, but his rants and attacks on companies and Laura Ingraham have backfired on him big time, and his latest call for boycotting Vanguard and BlackRock, two of the world’s biggest investors in gunmakers, seems like it is going down the same impotent road.

Scammed by a Black, a Woman, and Now a 17-Year-Old.  Exploiting the Florida school shooting, wacko leftist retired justice John Paul Stevens and other leftist nuts have called for the repeal of our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.  Leftists also flood the media with deception and lies.  Parroting fake news media, my relative ranted that you don't need an assault weapon for hunting and home protection.  She thinks current gun law allows nutcases to purchase a machine gun (assault weapon).  Civilians cannot casually purchase machine guns.  The AR-15, which is hated by leftists, requires the trigger to be pulled for each round fired.  The AR-15 is not a machine gun and has saved numerous homeowners' lives.  Women defend themselves with guns against sexual abuse 200,000 times per year.  Guns are used 80 times more often to save a life than to take a life.  Of the 2,581,268 gun-related incidents each year, 2,549,596 are self-defense.  Only 31,000 are assaults.  American gun-owners kill 1,500 criminals each year.  Police kill 600 criminals annually.  The term "assault weapon" is a made-up political term by gun-haters to deceive people into thinking bad guys are legally buying machine guns.  Everything leftists try to sell us is always rooted in misdirected hate, irrational emotion, deception, and lies...........

The mirage that young people are in mass pushing for gun control.  If anything, younger people are least inclined towards it.  For those who were at the "March for Our Lives" event this past Saturday, there were lots of old people with grey hair and lots of middle age people, but relatively few who were high school age.  Of course, we weren't able to see the whole crowd, nor did we really try, but it turns out that only about 10% were under 18 years of age[.] [...] Other survey evidence indicates young people are possibly more pro-self defense as a way of stopping violence than other people.

Boss Hogg and His Ingraham Angle.  There is plenty to criticize about David Hogg's actions and statements, yet that is not permitted.  Hogg is permitted to slander and slime anybody from the president on down.  If you disagree with him, blood is on your hands.  But don't dare mock one of his tweets, as Fox News host Laura Ingraham did.  The tragedy at Parkland has somehow transformed Hogg into an oracle we must honor and worship even as he ironically seeks to transform America into a gun-free zone.  In a rhetorical sense, he has become bullet-proof.

David Hogg Is Quickly Learning How to Be a Bully.  When is it okay to talk back to someone who keeps falsely branding you a murderer?  Well, that depends on whether he's being funded by Republicans or Democrats.  Ever since the shooting last month at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., a student named David Hogg has become the new face of the gun-confiscation movement.  He's everywhere you look, telling you that if you disagree with him, you've got blood on your hands.  If you've managed to miss his schtick, here's a quick recap from David Rutz at the Washington Free Beacon:  [Video clip]
