This Week in The News

By Rich Kozlovich

There are some stories that so hot every news site I visit is running articles on them.  The reason why is they kinda follow the time honored journalistic thinking of ...."if it bleeds it leads"! Of in other words, the more emotion the story elicits, or the more outrageous it is, the more it will be reported on.

Let's start with the failed execution of Christa Pike.  Why did the execution fail?   You can blame the leftists for that.  They've been fighting the death penalty for decades saying it violated the 8th Amendment against cruel and unusual punishment.  It's interesting the founding fathers who wrote that amendment didn't believe that, but the Supreme Court decided in 1972 to legislate from the bench and proclaim the death penalty was cruel and unusual punishment.   While they backed away from that four years later, these political hacks in black robes didn't entirely give up.

"In 1977, the court banned the death penalty for rapists of adult women. In 1986, it did the same for the mentally insane. In 2002, the court added those with intellectual disabilities to the list. In 2005, the court ended capital punishment for those who were minors at the time of the crime. And in 2008, the court did the same for child rapists."

None of which has any Constitutional foundation for their rulings.

The left then attacked the means of execution, and now chemical companies simply refuse to manufacture compounds that do the job effectively any longer.   The real story?  It's taken 31 years after she and her boyfriend perpetrated a horrible absolutely provable torture and murder against an innocent 19 year old women to execute this woman.

Then there's the public execution of Nidal Hasan.  You remember him don't you?   He's the secret jihadist who was a major and a physician in the United States Army who shot and murdered 13 people, injuring 32 others at Fort Hood, and you have to wonder how many more of them are out there?

He's being executed publicly by firing squad, which Vance says he won't watch, and neither will I, but again, here's the real story, it's only taken 17 years to bring him to justice. Of course Hillary Clinton is outraged calling his public execution barbaric, right along with the "usual suspects" in the totalitarian state of Hollywood where antisemitic celebrities rally in support of Hamas, who murdered, tortured, raped and perpetrated horrors on innocent unarmed civilians, and recorded it to the cheers and adulation of Muslims worldwide.

Here is a long list of celebrities who are acting out Hamas’ screenplay by calling for freedom for convicted terrorist Marwan Barghouti. Among them are Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Daniel Brühl, Rebecca Hall, Zawe Ashton, Tatiana Maslany, May Calamawy, Emma Corrin, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ian McKellen, Brian Cox, Riz Ahmed, Elliot Page, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugo Weaving, Dan Stevens, Rob Delaney, and Jason Flemyng.

If Islamist’s were to take over the nation these dingle berries would be among the first executed. Hollywood lives in an intellectual and moral bubble filled with cognitive dissonance, easily disputed “facts” and logical fallacies. If these people really believe the things they’re saying, then they’re certifiable.   The totalitarian left not only redefines words to fit their obsession of the day, they make them up, and they’re so ambiguous they can be redefined at any given time to their advantage.

Here's one story I've not really commented on because the longer it goes... the bigger it grows.... and the more outrageous it becomes.   Cornell’s Jane Doe’s Damning Texts Revealed Called Night of Drug-Fueled Sex ’Gang Bang’ ’Our Body Our Choice’.  But have no fear, that paragon of personal and public integrity, New York Attorney General Letitia James, is heading up the investigation.... and will do so without bias of any kind.  And we really believe she has no bias... Right!

Finally, where did Talarico go?  There's been a lot of verbiage about the disappearance of  the Democrat party's candidate for the Senate from Texas, wackadoodle James Talarico, who hasn't been seen since September 26, with some wondering if he's been captured by extraterrestrial aliens.  I don't think so as he may be their ambassador.   However, ‘The View’ is sure he's going to turn Texas blue by winning that Senate seat.  Well... that must be encouraging to conservatives since I don't know when the The View was ever right.  Just like when during the Biden administration Whoopie declared Jill Biden was a great doctor and should be made Surgeon General.... in spite of the fact her "doctorate" was in education.  James Talarico, please call home.

Christa Pike is Angry, and So To Should Society

By Rich Kozlovich

Christa Pike is now 50 and was going to be executed by firing squad because her attorneys claim her 8th amendment rights against cruel and unusual punishment would be violated by execution via lethal injection.  So she was getting a firing squad and was demanding ..... demanding mind you.....an all-woman firing squad for her execution.

Her attorneys attempted to get her off with an insanity plea..... where did I hear that before?  But here's what's really nuts.  It's taken 31 years to execute this lunatic, and then it was decided she'd be executed via lethal injection, which failed.. twice... and she survived.  She was then taken to a hospital and put on life support, and she's been revived.  Why?  Why in the world would they put a person to be executed on life support?

Daniel Flynn over at American Spectator noted:

Christa Pike's lawyer describes her as "angry" in the wake of her surviving her scheduled execution. Years ago, as chronicled in a back page piece in the print American Spectator, I felt every emotion but anger when the nursing home that eight hours earlier had announced my dad" death suddenly announced him alive. "She is angry and confused about everything right now," attorney Randy Spivey told reporters. "She is very aware that the state tried to execute her." Does not her anger predate her botched execution?

She tortured and murdered a young woman, and succumbed to a dark-arts fascination with Satan, 31 years ago. One does not walk down that path by embodying The Partridge Family"  "Come on, Get Happy" theme song, after all. When one cheats death, anger does not strike as the appropriate emotion. But regulating emotions does not rank as a strong suit of death row denizens.

Perhaps we should review what she did.

She decided because Colleen Slemmer waved at her boyfriend she was trying to steal him from her, so, she lured her to a secluded location, along with her boy friend, and beat her to death.  While Slemmer begged for her life Pike slashed her with a box cutter carving a pentagram in her chest while still alive, she also used a meat cleaver in this murder.  With a large chunk of asphalt she smashed her head and took a piece of Slemmer's skull as a "souvenir."   A horror that according to investigators lasted for 30 minutes.

Pike got the death penalty and her boyfriend who was a year younger that Pike, 17, got life without parole.  How does being 17 make a monster murderer less culpable than being 18 in such a vile act?   And now "Republican Governor Bill Lee has canceled all executions for 2026 and ordered an investigation",   Make no mistake, her attorney's are claiming she's “endured punishment greater than any other person in the history of the American death penalty”, and want her sentence commuted, which will most likely happen.  But I think it fair to ask what form of penalty could be more cruel than the horrors Pike and her boyfriend perpetrated on Colleen Slemmer?

If there's any anger that should be displayed it should be the public's anger at the state's incompetence, and the insanity of the American system of justice in these cases.  Thirty one years to execute this women in what was an open and shut case.   It’s clear there are people who will never stop committing crimes irrespective of the penalty, but it’s also clear…. at least to me…..the death penalty is essential for good social order, especially when the evidence is so profound as to the guilt of the perpetrator as it is in this case.   As British Prime Minister Gladstone said in 1868,  "Justice delayed is justice denied."  Nothing's changed.

Update, 10/10/26:

The Left Has Made It Harder to Kill Christa Pike. She Must Die Anyway. - But the only reason there are botched executions today is because of the Left’s decades long legal crusade to intentionally throw sand in the gears of the execution process — over the objection of a majority of Americans, who have long favored capital punishment. In the 1960s, activist NAACP lawyers launched a campaign to challenge the death penalty on grounds of “systemic racial bias.” (Sound familiar?)

They argued the death penalty constitutes “cruel and unusual punishment” under the Eighth Amendment. The culmination came in 1972, when the Supreme Court ludicrously held that, as a practical matter, the death penalty is unconstitutional. Following massive backlash, the court walked that back only four years later.   But the legal battle was only beginning.

In 1977, the court banned the death penalty for rapists of adult women. In 1986, it did the same for the mentally insane. In 2002, the court added those with intellectual disabilities to the list. In 2005, the court ended capital punishment for those who were minors at the time of the crime. And in 2008, the court did the same for child rapists.   None of this is based in constitutional interpretation. It’s all legislation from the bench.

The Left has also waged war on lethal injection drug “cocktails,” similarly accusing the execution method of constituting a “cruel and unusual punishment.” Activists lost their first Supreme Court challenge in 2008. They narrowly lost again in the 2015 case that sparked Scalia’s ire, and in a similar case from 2019.

But where the activists have failed in the courts, they have succeeded elsewhere. Chemical companies have stopped manufacturing traditional lethal injection drugs. That’s why we have the current “cocktails,” and the corresponding litigation, that we do.

It’s all part of a concerted effort to end the death penalty — whether by judicial kill shot or by chemical fiat.  This is all absurd........
