A professor at a public university
recently denied Soviet Union Leader Joseph Stalin was responsible for
the murder of millions, saying he has “yet to find one crime – one crime
that Stalin committed.” “I know they say he killed 20, 30,
40 million people,” continued Grover Furr, a professor in Medieval
English at Montclair State University.
“It’s bullshit.”
Grover Furr of Montclair State University said he has yet to find “one crime that Stalin committed.” Furr
made the comments at a campus debate featuring three individuals
supposedly representing conservative, liberal, and libertarian political
views. Following
the debate, a student pressed Furr on his comments reminding the
professor that most historians believe “100 to 150 million people [were]
killed by communist regimes.” The professor, however, doubled down on his original comment.............. To Read More....
My Take – As
you watch this video please take note that there are idiots in this
audience….and not just a few…..that are applauding this man. Is it any wonder that these kids are coming out of college over educated and under smart? This
guy may be more outspoken in this view than many of his academic
colleagues, but he is clearly expressing the overall view they all share
about socialism and communism....and his denialism over Stalin's crimes
isn't isolated to him.
"Furr has been accused of academic malpractice by conservative professor Ronald Radosh,
who called for his firing from Montclair State University and argued
that “tenure should not be used to protect his employment”. Radosh
writes “Grover Furr is not a distinguished scholar. He is a pedantic
hack; a man who pretends to disprove with scores of footnotes all of his
ideological opponents — as if endless citations prove that he is right —
indeed anyone who casts aspersion on his beloved hero Joseph Stalin. If
Furr uses his classroom to make these same arguments, as readily
appears to be the case, it is a different matter.
In the 1950s, in a
seminal essay, the late philosopher Sidney Hook argued that while a
Communist had a right to his opinions and to enter them in the
marketplace of ideas, he did not have the right to be hired by a
university to teach these ideas as the truth, and to use the classroom
as an arena to indoctrinate students with lies meant to affirm the
viability of the movement to which he has sworn loyalty.”[29] - Wikipedia
What is the solution? Defund the universities and make them all independent “for profit” institutions. Make
them compete and those that survive will have survived because they
turned out successful students, who actually will know how to think;
versus the mush brains they are turning out now that have only been
taught what to think.
