Wind power makers suffer huge losses, want to abandon major project

The greenies’ dream of “clean” (except for millions of dead birds) energy from wind farms is dying in the face of the poor economics (even with tax subsidies) and unreliable technology. The big players in constructing wind turbines are facing massive losses and write-downs and cancelling big offshore wind projects.  Brace yourself for demands for even more subsides to the failing industry.

The green energy subsidiary of German electrical equipment giant Siemens just reported Thursday that it lost nearly a billion dollars in the last quarter. Via Fox News (Hat tip: Beege Welborn, Hot Air):............To Read More.....

My Take - So, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, it turns out the bugman was right again.  I've said from the beginning this was a loser, and it should have been obvious to the most casual observer,  from the beginning, all these alternative energy schemes were not viable.  And now, even being subsidized, they're losers.

Here's reality.

These alternative energy schemes cannot provide power sufficient to meet societies needs, so, back up power plants, powered with coal, oil, or natural gas are needed.  Power plants which are capable of providing all the power needed by an advanced industrialized society.

Understand that power plants can't be turned on and off like a light switch.  If that was attempted it would destroy the plant, as it takes many days to slowly cool them down to shut them down, and many days to slowly heat them up to bring them on line.  That means they must run all the time, burning up energy, in order to be able to ramp up when more electricity is needed.

Which means were paying for power we don't need, and power we're not using.

One more thing.  If all this alternative energy crapola was viable, some businessman would have undertaken it without subsidies, and there's not one of these green companies that went into any of this claptrap without subsidies, and still the
