Get ready for this nightmare scenario involving Trump, Mueller and Kavanaugh

By Greg Sargent August 7

Two of the biggest stories in Washington right now are on track to collide in spectacular fashion. And it's not clear, at least to me, that the political world is taking this possibility seriously enough, let alone prepared to deal with the fallout for our political system that might result from it.

Simply put: The battle over whether President Trump will sit for an interview with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III could end up running headlong into the confirmation fight over Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, that's set for this fall.

The Post reports that Rudy Giuliani, who is supposedly Trump's lawyer, is preparing a letter to Mueller that will largely reject the special counsel's latest suggested terms for an interview. Giuliani claims Trump's team has "real reluctance" about Trump facing any questions about potential obstruction of justice. While it's very possible something will be worked out, it's also possible that, in the end, Trump may decide against sitting for an interview.

Giuliani has said that this decision will be coming in a week to 10 days, which means this could be upon us before we know it..........To Read More....

Comments from one of my correspondents:  These people really have lost their minds and all sense of perspective. A"nightmare scenario?"  Please, WaPo, stop with the hyperbolic hogwash.  Thus far there's zero evidence of any "collusion" and in fact quite a lot showing that no such thing existed.  Yet there's Greg Sargent of the WaPo carrying on about "nightmare scenario" and a conspiracy theory collaboration claim.

Nor has Trump even remotely gone to "enormous lengths to both scuttle that investigation and to publicly vindicate that foreign power."  In fact, to the contrary, he ORDERED it continued per Comey's testimony under oath, and he's evicted a large number of Russian embassy officials along with arming the Ukraine against Russia, etc., etc., etc.  Meanwhile this author & the WaPo editors totally ignore the fact that Hillary and the DNC clearly DID collude with foreign powers to sabotage our democracy.

It's gobsmacking the lengths these people will go to.

My Take - It's my view the mistake Trump made was not cleaning out that festering sore called the Justice Department from the start.  He should have fired Rosenstein on day two of his administration but he didn't have the support of the party, as a result it was impossible to start everywhere.....blame the Republican party for this mess.

Then the day Sessions recused himself I would have fired him, and I still think he's gone after the midterms.

Does anyone really believe either Lynch or Holder would have recused themselves if the situation had been reversed?  Does anyone really believe there would have been an investigation at all?  And if they did call for an investigation, and they did recuse themselves make no mistake about it, Rosenstein would have made sure it was over by now and Obama and his myrmidons would not only have been exonerated but lauded as the most honorable people to have ever taken over the White House.

As for talking to Mueller.  Absolutely not.  When Hillary was interviewed she was provided the question ahead of time, they refused to do that with Trump for two reason.  First, this is a witch hunt and secondly, it's clear they're not looking for truth in questioning Trump, they're looking to trap him in some misstatement.

Fire Rosenstein, fire Sessions and appoint someone who will fire Mueller.
