UPDATE - It's a biggie, too. Here's a major "clarification" from ABC News, finally posted hours after their inaccurate report was shared far and wide. They meant to say this all happened after Trump was elected, not while he was a candidate. That is not exculpatory unto itself, per se (we don't know what Flynn may or may not be sharing with Mueller), but it's a significant walk-back.
I go into more analysis why below. Post-election contacts with foreign governments on the part of a presidential transition team is not abnormal in the least. Why did Flynn lie to the FBI about it, then?
Good question.
We haven't heard the last of this, obviously. But if the central allegation is that the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow to impact the US election outcome, some behind-the-scenes discussions initiated after voters made their decision ain't a smoking gun.......To Read More.....
My Take - Everyone on the left popped the champagne corks, clinked their glasses, toasted the room - and yet - this leaves us with a great big - So what? This whole thing is predicated on Hillary Clinton's claim Trump only won because he colluded with the Russians. And insane proposition in any sense. How could the Russians force everyone to vote for Trump? Especially since the only voter fraud that's ever been exposed ended up involving Democrats.
This is going to play out for months and it's also not going to get the Democrats what they want. It may however be a dog that bites them as more and more information is coming out regarding the Democrats involvement with Russians and their election corruption, which Mueller can't seem to focus on.
At this point: Mueller needs fired - Sessions needs fired - deputy attorney general Rod J. Rosenstein needs fired and Comey needs to be investigated and prosecuted, along with Mueller, over Hillary and Obama's sale of nuclear material to the Russians. And that would be a good start, but in no way should it be the end. Appoint an Attorney General who will be like a mad dog in a meat market and send him after Lois Lerner, John Koskinen the Podesta's, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Susan Rice, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch and Obama.
That would be a really good start.
