Does Trump Know ‘Draining the Swamp’ Will Be Opposed by Republicans Right Along With Democrats?

By Warner Todd Huston January 9, 2017

Donald J. Trump won the White House in part — and likely in large part — because he told voters he wanted to stop business as usual and defeat the “insiders” in Washington D.C. His popular phrase to describe this was to “drain the swamp.” But one has to ask, does Trump understand that his small government agenda will be opposed by Republicans almost as much as it will be opposed by the left-wing, socialist-inspired Democrat Party? We are already seeing signs that the GOP won’t be a worthy partner for the headstrong agenda Trump has promised voters he intends to pursue......... We are still nearly two weeks away from Donald Trump’s oath of office ceremony but already Republicans are getting weak in the knees over one of the signature policy plans Trump ran on during the campaign: the repeal of ObamaCare........After all, being “ready” never seems to come........ How many years did we voters sit idly by and listen to John Boehner or Mitch McConnell and their underlings tell us how “right now” isn’t the “time” to fight..........Only every time seems to be “this time” and that darned ol’ “later time to fight” never seems to come.........To Read More.....

My Take - Back in the bad old days of kings and commoners one thing was clear:  The "nobles" of Europe had far more in common with each other than they did the people they ruled.  Legendary King Richard the Lion Heart of England didn't even speak English - He spoke French! The same is true of Washington's political crowd.  They have much more in common with each other than they do their constituents.   We need to understand this.  Most corporate decision makers are not conservative in their views and values and neither are most politicians.  The only thing they care about is  'their' bottom line, and will cross over any aisle to make life better for themselves, no matter the cost to society.  It was true of Kings, it's true of corporations and it's true of Republicans.

There is only one fix!  Repeal the 16th and 17th amendments and pass a 28th amendment to create term and age limits for Congress and the Federal Judiciary.

After that things will just fall into place naturally.  Will there be problems with corruption?  Of course.  But that's because people will still be running things and people will always be people. But the smaller the money and regulatory clout the smaller impact that corruption will have and the easier it will be to fix.  And most importantly ..... the fewer years these people are in power the less they'll be able to create their own little protected fiefdoms.
